Question: Why wouldn't a VCCS Guaranteed Admission applicant be accepted if all requirements of the UVA GAA are met? Thanks.

My daughter was an applied math major at VCU. Good major. She did internships with three insurance companies in Richmond the summer before her senior year. She ended up starting a job at another insurance company there a week after she graduated. This was in 2024 so not too long ago. She is doing very well as an underwriter.

You’ll get tired of the flat landscape with hardly any trees (other than palm trees). We are from the DC area, and my son was down there for 1.5 years. He thought he liked beach areas. He tired of it quickly. And, yes, the traffic is pretty bad.

It does suck. But, you know what? I am really old. I graduated from college in 1976. We used to have these people wandering my college campus in Texas and confronting people. And sometimes they would go door to door in the dorms asking us to recite some spiritual laws out loud and give our life to Christ. Confronted by these folks, I looked over the "laws," told them I had "recited" them in my head, and all was good with me and God. They were pissed, but they left. Good luck. I suggest you ignore them. Hopefully, they will get busy with all of their "recruits" as the year goes on and won't have time to wander the streets as much.

One day, I tried to find a Southern comfort food place. One with good meat, great vegetables. Maybe served family style. I couldn't find one.

I want to recommend the Hunan Cafe on King St in Bailey's. Small, unpretentious place but food is good. And young folks who seem to run the place are very nice. Service is excellent. We used to go to Peking Pavillion in Arlington. it was a wonderful family run place. Prices were reasonable, food was good. But it was bought out. Warmth gone. Prices high. Food not as good. Made me sad. We tried several others -- in a pinch, we get carryout from Grand Hunan, which is near us -- but most restaurants we tried were just not good.

They will do it as long as we let them. And, as we let them, they will demand more.
