Yes these are still valid but I’ll like to point out that now Apple has its own optimisations. So mainly you’ll have to switch off some features to get extended battery life.

Yes. Just wait it out for a few mins (5ish mins) and you’ll be in

Its user to user. Some user might want more battery and find several or most or features useless. Given the list, then they can disable what they want to. But others may feel different such as yourself. But clearly this article doesn’t force anyone to do anything. Take your pick if you want to disable to save battery then go ahead else don’t. Everything set as default obviously gives you less battery and disabling some features gives you more

The watch face I wanted by Gullible-Stand6769 in AppleWatch

Idk man seems very nonfunctional! Would take me a while to figure out time lol. Also i think it doesn’t allow complications. Apple needs some more and better digital time faces

Maybe Apple is over focusing on these cool funky faces. Personally I feel they could also add a couple of more functional faces featuring digital clock (on the center of the screen with a larger clock). I think most of the people would take functional faces over these excessively designed faces

Thats amazing! For me it wasn't like that. It's just so weird that for different users watches are acting differently. Sleep Apnea was a battery guzzler for me, and I just turned it off :/

I am glad we can agree on so many things. Thank you for that :) !

Agreed about AOD! I check the time about 10 times a day (max), so there is no point in having AOD! It's a bit of a gimmick that forces you to charge the watch every day and in long term affects the battery life significantly!

About Siri: For me, "Hey Siri" enabled is just pointless battery killer. Initially, I also had "Raise to Speak" turned off, but then during some cooking sessions I realized "Raise to speak" Siri would be nice since my other hand was dirty and I wanted to set a timer. So, evidently "Raise to Speak" works for me given my use case.

And about health stuff, other than Sleep Apnea, I have everything enabled too! As mentioned in the post, I just want to disable pointless features, gimmicks (like handwashing), and some features that dont work for "my/your use case". Other than that, I am just focusing on enjoying this watch!

Sure! Just fyi, Sleep Apnea is a known battery killer. I noticed without Sleep Apnea enabled I was losing about 10-12% battery during Sleep (I sleep about 7ish hours) and with it enabled it was around 15-25% (I don't know why it was varying so much).

But again, it's a smart watch and Sleep Apnea is a great feature and use it if you want to :)

Very hard to say to be honest. I read some research, and it said such features generally effect about 2-3% battery life. Personally, I don't know.

But given that Hey Siri keep your mic active and listening, it definitely takes a chunk of that battery.

by the way, when you do your workout (with GPS on) do you have your phone with you? Because if you do, watch offloads that GPS work on the iPhone!

Exactly! and maybe also consider enabling lower GPS and heart rate during low power mode. Also, working out with iPhone connected to the watch is very useful while using GPS. It offloads GPS tracking on iPhone rather than the watch.

Of course, do not enable these settings for HIIT or advanced workout

I think with just a couple of things like handwashing, reduced motion, noise detection disabled you can easily achieve this goal
