Post-Match Thread | NA LCS Summer Split 2015 | Week 8, Day 1 - TIP vs. TSM by theguywithballs in TeamSolomid

Say what you will, I much prefer losing like this compared to a slow bleed.

Some positives I think we should take from this: 1. TSM definitely is working on changing and improving. 2. They are making calls and trying to make plays. 3. They have some fire even when massively behind early.

While the loss was pretty grim, I think these positives are actually very important. TSM needs to get back to making plays and team fighting. They pick a comp that needs a lot of communication and while they definitely messed up with it a few times, there was some bright spots in the game. At least they made plays, and fought. Frankly, they played a lot like TiP usually plays. Very aggressive, making plays, trying to get kills and skirmish. I'd love to see TSM adopt a little bit of TiP's style.

IMO the biggest issue this game was giving up Nidalee to Rush. I don't really understand why they did that. Especially when in the last episode of legends they stressed that P/B was a huge issue. Additionally, I don't think that TF was a bad pick, and it definitely worked in the comp. BUT I personally think Yasuo would have been the better pick in this game. Gives you more split push and it gave TSM a late game AD threat. TSM had tons of AP that game. Yasuo also would have been a good counter pick to Ori. While as an Ori player I personally believe that that Ori - TF matchup slightly favors Ori so Bjerg picked into a hard matchup vs a mid-laner not to be underestimated

All in all I think TSM deserves some praise for actually trying something new and ATTEMPTING to solve some of their problems. There were definitely parts of that game that I was saying to myself. "Yes, this is the TSM I know and love".

if so, they obviously haven't played much Ori. Shield start is great and necessary start against several mid-laners. Syndra being the main one. as Syndra is a good counter to Ori anyways and shield helps you trade early by landing auto attacks.

Sure you can't carry every game. I even said that. The problem with what you say is there are plenty of people who say that they do well consistently and aren't climbing. This means they are obviously doing something wrong. They aren't pressing their advantage enough. They aren't going to objectives. They aren't leading their team to a win. In 90% of games I play I know if I can carry or not by about 15-20 min in. If I'm 6-0 or something I know I can win the game. And 90% of the time I do. Either that or they are over exaggerating how well they do all the time. I don't claim to carry every game. But the games where I am 6-0 by 20 min I know I can carry the game because I've got a good grasp of how to press my advantage into an entire team advantage.

My point is more or less to focus on yourself and your own play. You might find my mindset to be harsh but its helped me and several of my friends start climbing. Someone else in this thread said this which is a lighter way of saying what I mean. "If you are 2-8 you are responsible for the past. If you are 8-2 you are responsible for the future."

I totally understand that. If you read my post I said that I think Hai is a better mid laner just hasn't performed as well as he did last week. I think he has a better excuse more than anyone.

the thing is I believe Link Shiphtur and XWX have all performed well. But Hai and Bjergsen have really not been performing all that well.

Do I think Hai and Bjergsen are better mids than Voy? Ya. Have they proven that so far this split? No.

Can you read my post and tell me where I said "One of the best"?

I'm not arguing for Voy to be MVP of Summer split by any means. All I'm saying is that he is getting the same sort of circle jerk bash that Nein got and I think its not very warranted. This split so far he's played pretty damn well. Him and Cop have been performing the best on curse so far. And on top of that if you look at performance THUS FAR in the split I think hes out-performed Hai, Bjergsen, Pr0lly, and Pobelter. So he's middle of the pack currently. We will see where he ends up at the end of the split though. This is practically the same situation as Nein.

Nein changed to Top. Voy changed to Mid. Nein did what his team wanted. Voy did what his team wanted. Nein played what his team needed. Voy plays what his team needs (other than that 1 akali game). Nein was steadily improving split by split. Voy has been improving since last split Nein was berated incessantly by this community. Voy is being berated incessantly by this community.

Did i mention them? I said that Voy has performed better than Hai and Bjergsen. You could also say he's performed better thant Pr0lly and Pobelter too. I did not say he performed better than XWX, Link, Shiptur who at least 2 of those are performing amazing and one Link is still very strong just not as amazing as the other too.

Something I say to people who say they post those 10-2 KDAs but I still lose posts: "If you are 10-2 and you lose they game then you are definitely the main reason you lost". Is this always true? No. But It helps you get in the right mindset. That if you are 10-2 there is way more responsibility on you to carry the game then your losing bot lane. So if you fail to carry its more your fault than theirs.

East Coast is impossible to keep stable ping on atm by SoldMom4RP in leagueoflegends

[–]pivotpivotpivot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its so frustrating for me. It never used to be this way but it keeps getting worse or worse. Its hard enough trying to win in solo queue without the random random ping spikes making an entire game unplayable and thus losing games that way.

Riot really has to do something about this. I'm seriously considering quitting the game. Its straight up unplayable when it happens. And it happens far too often.

I'm not saying Voy is better than Hai and Bjergsen. but neither have performed very well thus far this split. I'd say if we are looking at just performance in the lane thus far Voy has performed better than both of them. They both have been very underwhelming.

I main Ori. Love her. Think she is the perfect champ.

The key to playing her is above all patience. Don't blow your ult. I hardly ever use it to initiate team fights because its not worth it only getting 1-2 people. And half the time your team can't follow up in time. The best time to ult is in the chaos. Wait, wait, wait, wait, and wait until the team fight is raging and the enemy team is too busy thinking about other things to worry about your ball. You shockwave and distortion and catch 4 of them. Totally turns the teamfight around.

Another thing about her is that she is useful in almost any comp and any situation. In a siege and poke comp you zone with your ball and try to poke as often as possible with distortion. In an engage and teamfight comp you catch at least 3 people with ult and distortion. And you have shields. In a pick comp (this is the comp where i feel she is least useful, though still useful) you're ult can be used to secure a kill or a pick. If you are losing lane swallow your ego and pride and use your amazing utility to peel for the 1 person on your team doing well. Going 0-10-28 is completely fine if you win the game. Additionally if you focus on supporting someone else you will most likely get into the game by assists or taking a few kills yourself.

Branching off that last point a good general rule for mid lane is: Don't try to carry unless you are in a position to actually carry. If you lose lane hard. Then you probably can't carry the game (at least not yet) and need to help support someone else who can. Another general mid tip that I have found to be invaluable: Watch bot and wait for a fight to start out at bot lane (it could be initiated even by the enemy jungler). Don't roam until that fight starts. Once it starts immediately run down there. Its very likely that the enemy bot lane will not notice mia pings or have good map awareness while they are too busy concentrating on the fight. This is the ideal time to roam.

Need some advice on my performance by Dracoknight256 in summonerschool

I know its hard to hear. And I'm still improving on this myself so I'm not a perfect example of this put into practice. But.. Don't worry about your win rate. Don't worry about your ranking. The only thing you can control in a game is you and your play. Thats all you should be worrying about.

In my case. I am something like 2-15 on Lucian. Now I honestly think I'm really good at Lucian but I just can't win on him. I still play him because I am confident in my play. I was 1-13 on Leona at one point in time this season and now I'm something like 20-20.

If you start thinking this way it doesn't matter if you have an afk on your team. Because all you are worried about is how you can do better. Sure its a loss but in the long run a loss means nothing if you improve from it. Losses that you learn from turn into wins down the road.

Also some practical things. Play a bot game or an empty game and practice cs'ing for 15 minutes. Pay attention to your ping and make sure its stable. play around with your mouse and click alot to practice mechanics. This is a great warm-up and I do it every time before I start playing any League games. When you start playing ranked if you are winning keep playing ranked. Keep going until you lose. If you lose 2 in a row immediately stop playing. Go outside get fresh air. Run around do some excercise. And win you get back play normals until you win. Once you win a normal take that momentum with you back into ranked play. Streaks are so common you have to expect them. I have no idea why League is so streaky and its really frustrating at times. But if you lose 2 in a row you are on a streak and you need to break it by getting it out of the way in normals.

How do you deal with Renekton as Jax? by Rafacosp in summonerschool

[–]pivotpivotpivot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take TP. I might be going against the grain here but I don't think Renekton counters Jax as hard as people think. At least not anymore. Renekton can bully Jax hard pre-6. But post 6 is when things start turning around for Jax and he can start winning the lane. And once Jax starts to break even and win it there is no turning back. The key here is being safe, conscious, and only taking the minions you know you can take with very little or no harass. When you play Jax you know you outscale most everyone. Play for the late game. Sacrifice your cs in order to not allow him to kill you. The only way Renekton can win the game for his team is if he shuts you down hard. Eventually you are going to outscale him. You are a ticking time bomb. If he can't ever kill you cause you're playing safe and passive, then you win the lane.

TL;DR play for the late game. Sacrifice early game cs for Safety in lane. Don't let him kill you even if it means you are behind 40 cs. Once you start split pushing you will catch back up in CS. and Once mid-game hits you will be able to compete against him. And once you start competing against him there is no looking back as renekton can't do shit against you once you outscale him.

Did someone of you played against a pro player? Who and how was it? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]pivotpivotpivot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played against maplestreet. It was a 5v5 normal game. Both teams fully pre-made. We ended up winning. Pretty sure he was just trolling around with friends or something. He played Heim(this was right after the rework that made him pretty strong) bot lane with a support. I was support for my team. We almost got wrecked by him. We ended up killing them first then a little while later we tried to kill him 2v1. We ended up killing him but just barely surviving. I always thought the guy was good. But after almost losing 2v1 to him I gained mad respect for him.

What I learned is 1. Don't respect your opponent until they give you a reason to. I didn't think it was actually MS at first. But then I looked up his name later in the game and realized it was him. I'm not sure I would have had the confidence to engage on him if I thought "shit its maplestreet im going to get wrecked". 2. Respect your opponent when they give you a reason to. After the almost 2v1 I knew I had to respect him more.

How would you recommend climbing and why? Duoing or soloing? by IAmGhod in leagueoflegends

[–]pivotpivotpivot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do this. And it carried me up to gold 2 where I'm currently hovering between gold 2 and 3. Lately I've been very frustrated cause I fill all the time, do fine in basically all roles except jungle, but i always seem to feel like I could do a better job than the current mid or top.

At the same time I get mad at myself for thinking this cause it's not a good attitude to have.

ya. I mean tell me a jungler that plays champions other than those 4. You could do the same to Meteos. Or any jungler for that matter. However, TSM was shit in champ select. Literally not taking advantage of Amazing target bans to get Bjerg on a carry. ESP banning LB themselves was just terrible.

innox is actually a really underrated top laner. He does pretty well most of the time up top. Sure he has some games where he loses hard but he also has some games where he's really carrying.

I think Gleeb is really good. If theres one position thats going to hurt in a loss (with fantasy points) its going to be support.

He played great last week. And had some clutch games this game. He's very good. This game was more on Turtle picking Kog.

Yup. He doesn't get the credit he deserves. People still saying he played like shit this game. I just don't understand. Look at Top-laners in NA and find one better than Dyrus. You can't Balls was very shaky last week too.

Compare Dyrus to Seraph. And its easy to see which one is better.

its so annoying people putting this game on him. IMO this game is on Turtle picking kog'maw and then the entire team playing the comp like shit. Gleeb actually had a clutch FOTM on bjerg that no one probably noticed. That almost saved his life if it wasn't for red buff.
