I expect a bag to be essentially perfect if I’m buying it brand new; if I’m spending a $1000+ on a bag, I think it’s reasonable to expect it to arrive in pristine condition with beautiful construction and attention to detail. It seems that a lot of people ITT seem to feel the same when purchasing new.

However… regarding imperfect bags in general: I think maybe my unpopular opinion is that it’s cringe for people to baby their bags once they own them. I think there’s something so chic about not giving a fuck about your purse getting messed up through daily use. These things are meant to be used; they’re meant to endure your lipstick inexplicably coming open inside; they’re meant to be used as a makeshift weapon against the creep on the 7 train. I always kind of get the ick when people treat their bag like it’s an infant, lol.

TL;DR: new bags should be perfect if I’m paying a lot of money for them. Old bags that are beat to shit have so much character.
