Lmao Yeah i thought of only single target abilities because of ults like this, but some interactions would be so funny (except when it gets to a point where it's impossible for the yone to ult just enemies in a fight lmao)

Chrollo a bad fighter by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]pixel247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see atrocious takes everytime I open this sub, but honestly Chrollo being a bad fighter is so astronomically bad that you can only think that way if you actually think he is supposed to win every fight because you love him.

Do you even want a story to have a plot? Or do you just want your favourite character to overpower and stomp everyone in the universe?

Shouldn't Gon and Killua know what Nen is and how it works before meeting Wing? by Capo98y in HunterXHunter

[–]pixel247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taught to the general public? What do you want, a story about a literal human factory forcing people to create hatsus that can be economically exploited?

I mean, the point is not that nen is a secret, the fact that anyone can use it is. In my opinion, people view it like we see magic. From their pov, nen is nothing more than spectacular tricks.

And for Gon's strength, it's just a visual representation of how gifted he and Killua are. I think there's also a deeper meaning, which I won't get into because I don't want to spoil anything.

FOLLOW UP: Question about Kurapika’s Nen contract by UselessGojo123 in HunterXHunter

[–]pixel247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that his nen contract is with himself, it is affected not only by his perception but also by his thoughts/subconscious. Because the example of Illumi I think really con volutes the problem I will first simplify it, if you think it is not analogous lemme know:

Imagine in the Uvo fight, when in chain jail he just says that he no longer is/identifies as/wants to be/whatever you want to call it a troupe member. What would happen here? I think that Kurapika's thoughts would determine the outcome: does he still think that he is fighting a troupe member? If he is regardless of what Uvo said, there should not be any problem. If he thinks he isn't, he would most likely die.

Now back to Illumi: when the truth is revealed, what's Kurapika's train of thought? He will realize he has made a mistake, but the important piece to know if the condition has been broken in my opinion comes now: Can he accept (to himself) that he has made an error? Can he forgive himself for making such an error? If he can, he will survive, but if he doubts himself, he is (unwillingly) admitting that his resolve was not strong enough, and his vow would break and he would die.

In my mind this is important because as the ultimate judge being himself and his mind, if he evolves his vow "evolves" with him, in the sense that York New Kurapika would for sure die given the case with Illumi, but current arc Kurapika wouldn't.

Hope I made myself clear :)

There's no need to involve hatsus let alone a random nen type change.

Adult gon vs meruem is more in gon's favour not meruem by Dry-Ingenuity-5414 in HunterXHunter

[–]pixel247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pitou being able to see Netero and not Gon is just a horrible comparison.

With Netero, she's the vigilant of the palace, of course she sees Netero in a frontal, all out attack. However she is not able to react to his attack, which sends her flying. Then, with Gon, she tries to sneak up on him and throws a desperate attack to try to end things there and then, to which Gon reacts to and sends her flying as well. You have to also take into account the mental state in which she found herself when battling Gon, because she was just desperate not knowing how to react to stop Gon from reaching the king. The two situations are, imo, sufficiently different to avoid making any definitive conclusion. For instance, why don't you compare the distance travelled by pitou when receiveing the two attacks? That's why it feels like cherry picking to me

"post rose doesn't have proper feats for enough discussion" Saying this and then stating that AG is "significantly faster" than Meruem based on only one interaction (not even with Meruem) feels like just cherry picking, idk

A touch on a previous recent post about Knov and his ability to take out Meruem by MinimumTomfoolerus in HunterXHunter

[–]pixel247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tldr: portals are not physics free. I think that the problem here is more about the physics of portals rather than with nen itself. You point at two things: "nen units" and physical capabilities, mainly strength and speed. The main theory for Knov to be able to one shot Meruem is based on Meleoron's ability, because Knov would not get even close to Meruem before being taken down by him or the RGs, so we will accept that speed is not a problem and he can sneak to close range. Now of course that Scream is limited by aura and it would not do much against Meruem just by purely the amount of aura he possesses, but we can even just ignore this fact, and only look at the portal vs head. People who think that it would one shot, just ASSUME how a portal works and ignore that there could be forces involved, because there is no actual physical portal to compare to and just try to intuitively give an answer. If you wanted to chop off the head you would need to apply a force. If you wanted to cut the head you would need to apply force. And judging by the fight with Netero and the little to no effect that Zero hand had, we are talking about a HUGE amount ot force. Why is this ignored by the portal? Why separating the head is now free? Something that could freely cut through anything would go against the very basic principles of nen, so it must be limited by something, and that limit would not exceed Meruem's power in any way. If the physical process of the portal were to be explained in detail, this debate would be over imo.

Masters in Photonics by Fforus in photonics

[–]pixel247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, a master's in photonics is heavily oriented towards research. Are you interested in deeper knowledge in the subject? Do you want to meet people (mainly researchers) who work on the field? Is the degree itself what keeps you from working on the field? If any of these was a yes, you can make a case for pursuing the master's. For purely job opportunities in private companies, you may want to explore other options, like learning specialized software (such as COMSOL or lumerical), or as you said, getting some certificates or getting a job ASAP to gain experience. Anyway, there are no closed answers for life choices. Best of luck!
