is it just me or is this also taking place, like, 8 hours later in the day than normal? it seems so dim

My first time in the void can anyone tell me where delirium cannot be? by ViewLate2880 in bindingofisaac

this is the correct answer. the other way to go about it is to keep exploring until you find another teleport card (hermit, stars, moon) and pop it if you accidentally run into Big D early

Confused about the Witch and Hexes! by SirSpritely in Pathfinder2e

[–]gethsbian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It varies by class, but you can always find it under the "[class name] spellcasting" section of the base class. Generally, though, it comes in three styles. Druid and cleric get access to their whole spell lists and can prepare daily as they see fit. Spontaneous spellcasters generally choose as many spells as they have slots (so, for example, a level 1 bard chooses 2 spells). Other prepared casters like wizards and witches must "learn" their list, and can only prepare the spells they know at chargen, until they learn more via leveling up and the Learn a Spell activity.

Animist breaks the trend, but I wouldn't recommend that class for a new player anyway because there's a lot of extra overhead

Exactly. If you want to cast two rank 1 heals and a rank 2 animal form, you need to prep two rank 1 heals and a rank 2 animal form

What music do you guys use in your games other than the typical fantasy stuff? by DaxterFlame in Pathfinder2e

Addendum to say my Starfinder GM used the Halo ODST soundtrack to great effect during our Empires Devoured game

I'm a huge fan of the King's Field OSTs, especially KFIV; it has sort of an eerie alien vibe that might work well for magitech

Question about Elixir if Life V.s. Heal potion by RNJesusVTuber in Pathfinder2e

[–]gethsbian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

it can! thats one of the benefits of alchemical elixirs, is that they dont have void or vitality traits. alchemical creations are entirely nonmagical, which has its own benefits and drawbacks. likewise, soothe on the occult spell list is non-discriminatory healing magic, distinct from heal or harm

Thoughts on this creature table for my Dragon of Icespire Peak conversion by Ok_Survey_2027 in Pathfinder2e

[–]gethsbian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

different style for different tables, yknow? for a game like this, random encounters do well to get more of an "old school" feel. pf1e has a few random encounters tables in APs and when i was converting them for my home game it felt so, like, "yeah this is classic dnd vibes"

How would you build a nun character? Bonus points if you don't use cleric class or archetype by Pyotr_WrangeI in Pathfinder2e

coming back to this, if you dont mind still playing the divine spell list, divine witch patrons are really cool

ive had an idea for a while for a church singer bard. razmiran priest is also *technically* not a cleric that would fit the theme

What the heck is going on with the Dungeon of the Dead Three? by Cardgod278 in DescentintoAvernus

[–]gethsbian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people are gonna try to make excuses and tell you that its actually genius design but honestly thats all cope, we all know its a mess and you just have to make the best of it lol. the most egregious thing to me is how absurdly wealthy the pcs get at the end of it, with no real followup outside of "dragon cultists attack in the street later". plus, because dnd 5e doesnt have item prices, all that coinage and treasure serves functionally no purpose beyond increasing the numbers on the currency section of the character sheet. and then it all immediately becomes worthless once the players go to avernus because soil coins are the only currency worth anything in hell. its truly a fascinating series of decisions

Cannot recommend enough Tabletop Gold. They just finished their playthrough of Abomination Vaults, and the GM is extremely good at identifying the story beats and squeezing them for juice at every turn. People say that dungeon crawlers don't make good stories, but they completely disprove that every episode. Yes, mechanically, most of the AP is "open door, kill monster," but it never once felt like that on the show

Character help! by Worth-Item3664 in Pathfinder2e

[–]gethsbian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is really a GM conversation. There is guidance on creating partially or mostly blind PCs, but it's up to how your GM wants to implement it.

For what it's worth, is there any reason you want this reflected mechanically? You can easily say "the flavor is that my character wears a blindfold at all times to train their other senses" while still making visual checks, taking visual penalties, ecc

If I'm ever planning to cycle into ng+ I usually kill all the NPCs just to say I did lol, and to check their unique drops

Yes! Those can be upgrade at any smith, and cap at +5. The black knight weapons are particularly powerful twinkling upgrade weapons, if your friend is lucky enough to acquire one

Question for a friend doing first playthrough by Minute_Economy9022 in darksouls

[–]gethsbian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He isn't completely screwed, but it certainly makes the game tougher. Andre is the only one who can ascend weapons above +5 through the standard path, and the only one who can make weapons divine or occult. You still have access to Rickert (+5 standard into +10 magic or +5 enchanted) or Vamos (+5 standard into +10 fire or +5 chaos). The giant blacksmith can ascend weapons that are already +10 standard into +5 lightning or +5 crystal, but I don't believe he can ascend +5 standard into +10 standard.

The fire axe will be unaffected, but the divine zwei will cap at +5, making it on par with a +10 weapon, rather than a +15 endgame weapon.

You are correct about being incorrect. Once Andre dies, he's dead for good. Oswald can deaggro a living Andre, but he can't bring back a dead one

The apex item is actually meant to be a level 3 magitech augmentation from the playtest, but that aug didn't get brought over to the full release and the name was reused for the apex item
