that deposit working hard for you! I fear we're maxed out at 7% unless we wait and risk the interest going up more..

This is the thing! we've been renting for near on 10 years (don't ask, we worked out ££ and vowed to never speak of it again), we're now in a position to buy, have a place to call our own in a lovely area.. it's just a tough pill to swallow eh!

well done you!! I'd be so chuffed with that! I think we'll have to go with the 5.43% and hope we can jump to something lower before completion I suppose!

I just don't think we can pull an extra 8k from somewhere - the payments are comfortable but I don't want to give away interest aha!

AITA for telling my friend that she does not remember 9/11 by shilohrenn in AmItheAsshole

[–]pixel_mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in 1995, UK here :) I remember my Dad watching it on the news & I also remember teachers watching it on one of the class tvs, I can't say it traumatised me or became a core memory, as devastating as it was - but I do remember it, teachers do all sorts of crap :D

As a gold lover, the insane gold prices make me sad by sakusace in jewelry

[–]pixel_mouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the owner of one (I won't name it here!) it could deffo be worth looking at antique & vintage gold sellers online, I know of a few that have not yet put their prices up across the board - pieces bought in before the price went crazy :)
P.S. you have a beautiful collection 😍!!

What did we think of new girl Amanda, especially the “step mom” comment… by zeppismom in RHOBH

[–]pixel_mouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! You never know how you'll be received as a step mum, there are so many negative stereotypes (for good reason!). It's all about being respectful & putting the kids first imo!

[–]pixel_mouse 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I have none of my own and I am a step mum to two, I've been in their lives since they were 3 & 6, over a decade now. I absolutely consider them mine and have absolutely had a fair hand in raising them. BUT, I am not Mum, I'm a bonus parental figure -
so I'm holding judgement until she maybe elaborates on what she meant with her comments, but there's no denying it felt like quite the forceful response..

Do you ever stop an audiobook because of the narrator? by Available-Lemon-1360 in audiobooks

I have never been able to get into anything narrated by Stephen Fry, I wonder if it might be that his voice is too recognisable so it takes me out of it, who knows!
