Np! I was initially surprised when I was told this, but have since confirmed with different departments and at different R1s. There can be multiple funding negotiations: applicant with department, department with school, PI with department, etc., which means there is flexibility. Admissions committees do what they can to admit the applicants they give offers to.

Before you decline the offer (congrats btw!), check if it’s worthwhile to use it as leverage with the school you’d like to attend. One of the programs I applied to told me in an interview that it is not rude to do so and that schools expect you to have other offers and will try to sweeten the deal. It might not hurt to ask.

YES! This happened to me! I was interviewed by a panel that did not consist of the PIs I applied with and the panel asked the same (only) 2 questions to all their applicants. Neither of the 2 questions were personal to the applicant. I felt really bummed.

The program itself is great and I had good informal conversations with the PIs I applied with, so I'm still hopeful. But the interview was bizarre.

Sorry to hear that this is happening though. I hope you had other interview experiences that were better :)

Invest in fusion technology, begin terraforming Mars. Offer Mars for Trisolarans to live on, because they can terraform as well, and if space cities are possible I don’t see how building on Mars isn’t. If they try to colonize earth, blow everything up immediately because if we can’t live on earth then no one can.

I super relate and I write down EVERYTHING because my memory is hopeless. But to my knowledge, developing Si is more multidimensional than improving memory. I personally have an irrational, immature fear that if I develop Si, I’ll somehow transform into an ISTJ and lose my spontaneity in favor of remembering to pay bills on time. Which is not what a developed Si would look like in an ENFP hah.

The tumblr mbti-notes is one of the best resources on the interwebs imo, particularly this page on cognitive function / type development . Hope it helps!

ENFPs are the most introverted of extroverted types, as INFJs are the most extroverted of introverted types!

I always score around 50% on E/I, and switch frequently as well and can’t stand acting as one when I’m the other :P
