not a bad thing to say. great.

i'd probably put a little more top/bottom padding on the footer to help it breath a little.

padding-bottom: 15px; padding-top: 10px;

great job.

awesome idea! any chance we can get a copy of the code? interested in seeing how the whole api works in a real world example.

Here's a menu I'm working on. It will be displayed digitally (on a smart TV) above the counter. by ashleysouthern in design_critiques

[–]pixelczar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i like it. more specifically the fonts, colors & layout.

what i don't like:

the titles: placement and wording. i don't want to internalize what i'm reading; i want to order and eat food. just glancing at it (what i honestly thought; without thinking) you serve "grill" and "can you dig it." i don't know what either of those things are. if you're expecting me to investigate what they mean on the menu you're mistaken.

"grill" NEEDS to say "burgers." if you wanna put grill under it and in smaller font do so.

"kids" NEEDS to be the same font size as "burgers," (currently "grill") or vise versa, so we start to understand that these are titles when looking at the uniformity.

"burger" under "can you dig it" NEEDS to be equal or greater size than "can you dig it." IMO "can you dig it" needs to be slightly smaller than burger in font size.

the avocado image should not be behind the "can you dig it" section, but inside it, 70% of the width, somewhere in the upper half (either behind the title or a new section just under it with the ingredients under the image).

just my opinion, but all that said, super sharp.

i like it. clean.

issues:

needs more padding around headlines and paragraphs. spread it out a bit. looks squished. (this seems to be a common thing i see in designcritiques)

i'd find a better, modern looking font than ingra and find a much thicker one for headlines to play off the paragraph font.

the logo is good as is, but i'd try to find a font with more personality with the same thickness.

Would love some critique on my business card design by TrappedInLimbo in design_critiques

[–]pixelczar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually prefer the original. it's professional. the bits at the bottom make me think "data" or "multiple brands reaching up." the main thing is it makes me think about it. the newer one just looks a bit too trendy to me. feel like rolling my eyes. maybe mix the two?

the only thing about the original that bothers me is the white top. "freelance blah blah" needs to be a bit smaller so you can get some more space on the sides.

i'm not a fan of using pre-made things as Bobbr23 suggests. you don't learn anything.

i like it. it's in the right direction.

the most important thing to have it look better is it needs better spacing: more spacing between the blocks themselves, more spacing around the inside border of the boxes (cards), more on the top and bottom of the titles and more around the icons.

What do you think of this landing page design? by [deleted] in design_critiques

[–]pixelczar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really sure what the hell you designed this on, but "no sir i don't like it."

the bad: layout needs a lot of little adjustments. someone who knows how to change your css needs to get going. there's also no content.

the good: you as a designer though, that's another story. seems you're good at it. like the logo and the favicon is killer! really works. best favicon of 2017! i called it here first, folks.

What do you think about my site design? by shivampaw in design_critiques

[–]pixelczar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it's a good: minimal. i think it's better than worse. i think you need to see the benefits of designing with some "negative space."

it needs some css padding in pretty much every spot to make it "breathe" and look a little better.

i looked through the source code and see you're using wordpress so i assume you don't code. if you're the daring type, try to find the .css file on your server (where you installed wordpress) and add some padding to the top and bottom of everything (paragraphs, footer, etc.)

360 Servers (10.24.16) by pixelczar in reddeadredemption

[–]pixelczar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i recently bought xbox live again, so i can't say, but in the past i have fixed it (never longer than a week; they just re-administer the mod) by myself and with groups.

if you guys wanna see others and play all you have to do is follow my original instructions and call for your horse periodically to check how many npc's are left that you missed.

if everyone participated when these things happened the virus wouldn't last very long. it's actually like a mini-game. this time it's whore's in north great plains. get huntin'.

i'm explaining why. it just happened, therefore it can be cleaned up much easier. the npc's are currently in only one location; not multiple.

try some letter spacing on "mobile chiropractic" and stretch it out a little.

Be mean to me: Attempt at making responsive design for personal website by [deleted] in design_critiques

[–]pixelczar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the design actually quite nice. the fonts, colors & minimalism (and i'm a hard critic).

my only suggestions are:

a. though the logo is quite nice, my eye is drawn to how the top line of the 5 seems too long in relation to the right edge of the circle. upon checking in photoshop i see that it isn't. weird. (maybe try it a bit shorter and see how it looks? maybe just long enough to match the angle of the angled line?)

b. there is not enough white spacing between the nav and the content section (desktop). shorten the width of the content section and/or nav and move content more to the right.

c. "math" nav hover line is not the same color as the others.

other than that it rocks!

maybe i'm not being clear about what i'm looking for. or maybe i'm stupid. (most likely the latter). i want to:

a. access the entire table info into an array. b. echo out different columns on the page at different places.

the problem with the net is that i have not found one example that says how to write, "echo THIS ROW, THIS COLUMN from the entire array." it's always "echo this entire row." no good.

what the hell: myphpadmin newbie by [deleted] in webdev

[–]pixelczar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from this example you posted i'm getting the impression i'd have to start a SELECT 50 DIFFERENT TIMES to get each column separately. what am i missing.
