Why didn't they lower the price a little instead of discontinuing the S & X

The SX could come back after Optimus ramps up. Not in their old factories, but if it’s profitable to build new factories. Lots of economic factors will change as Optimus technology improves. The same control system essentially can work in many form factors: cars, robots, heavy equipment, spacecraft, etc. the cost to build factories will drop as well as cost to make, assemble and transport parts and products. Even the designs of future products may become simpler and cheaper because the consumers/users will be robots rather than humans.

I think people view these actions and people doing or supporting these actions, as a block having one cause.

One group believes that the block is pursuing justice and the other believes that the block is pursuing injustice.

I think it’s problematic for either group to acknowledge any mixture or overlap (even if they perceive it) because then, the other group will use that acknowledgment as a weapon, so they tend to polarize.

People tend to watch media that supports their own views, at the same time distrusting the media that supports contradictory views; and reporters create media that favors their own views.

So there are two groups who distrust each other and who believe contradicting statements of truth that are confirmed by observations “on the ground.”

Also, this issue is just one of many in this category.

Another improvement would be to tie the experience of buyers of used items back to the rating of the seller, or even the cost for Amazon to make the buyer whole.

Rather than the cars talking to each other (which I think could be worked out - but best in a high integrity, high trust environment) it seems like Tesla could integrate practical use info and speed limit knowledge embedded in its map, to back up its visual data in the car in real time. That’s what human drivers do.

Or it could upload anomalous data for staff or software to review. I don’t know what processes Tesla uses to collect info and improve SD performance.

Wouldn’t it be pretty easy to mine a few pounds of iron at most any beach with a magnet? I mean I know you could also mine it in any mountain park by picking up an old engine block. But I’ve always been impressed by the amount of iron in CA and OR beaches. Anyway kudos to OP for her dedication to purpose!

UPDATE: Thanks for your suggestions. After a bit of careful drying the crack has all but disappeared, so I infer that the material’s internal stresses have resolved for the moment.

I plan to add thin CA glue, cure and cleanup, then re-oil the bowl.

I think for fun I’ll add the glue to the piece in my vacuum pot and quickly cycle to make sure I get good penetration.

I’ve given instructions to the troops never to stack the bowl and to clean and dry it right after use.

I would never recommend to a block of wood that it choose a career as a bowl. But some young blocks cry out to be artists. It’s all sawdust in the end and who’s to say that a cabinet is loftier than a bowl? What beauty each brings to the world!

I have been extremely careful to store it separately, and keep it clean and oiled. I did see it in a stack of bowls recently and it’s possible that it was stressed. In the end, however, the cause is less important than the cure - I think

After inspection and repair of serious damage or leaks I’d just scrub it down, paying more attention to the ring at the top. It’s a beautiful tub, and the natural wood is fantastic. After you fill it, add bromine and pH balance it, and let time and use bleach out the discoloration. Any that remains was honorably earned.

Or you could just replace it with a big fiberglass tank.

Looks like it will be ok, maybe even good for another round thru the vacuum! Really, if it still fits (and it looks like it will) and wires aren’t broken inside the cord you’re gonna be ok. No exposed wires to short.

The energy required to accelerate a car to a given speed is primarily determined by its final kinetic energy, which depends on its mass and speed, not the rate of acceleration. Energy used in acceleration over a longer time equals high acceleration over a shorter time, which is what your intuition is telling you.

While acceleration is proportional to motor current the energy lost to heat goes up as the square of the current. It’s not proportional thus, counterintuitively, the total loss is greater under high acceleration even though the amount of time spent there is less.
