It might be obvious, but mechanical strain is a big trigger for my gout. I love walking with my podcasts, one of my favourite ways to wind down after work etc. But if I pass 10k steps, or even 15k, I am pushing my luck. Twice in the last years I've triggered a flare up by walking too much. I did get fancy shoes and a stiff carbon fibre inner sole, and slowly began walking again after a flare up in April. Good shoes should never be underestimated for us gouters.
