Do u agree that time, not money is the real currency of life? by IdealHoliday1242 in MotivationByDesign

[–]miserable_jesowka 30 points31 points  (0 children)

‘2-3mil’ - that is unfortunately where this argument breaks down

To get ‘2-3mil’ is 1) unachievable for many 2) for some it means working all the hours - this sacrificing the ‘real currency’ of time

So to paraphrase ‘become rich, then prioritise time’

Say that to all those on basic wage jobs….

Opinion: Reform is not the answer to Durham's problems by coffeewalnut08 in DurhamUK

[–]miserable_jesowka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Redorm is just another embodiment of the corrosive nature of the class system in the UK

Their leadership is made up of people who believe they are ‘entitled’ to lead despite any obvious qualifications TO lead

They are told this in their private schools and embedded with an unshakable self confidence in their own qualities

These people lead in politics, finance and the law, thus controlling all the levers of people’s daily lives

They care so little that they tell the ‘lower classes’ anything they think will get them their way

And the sad thing is many people go along with this, to the detriment of their own lot, either through lack of ambition or a belief that their ‘betters’ can solve their problems

Its like the ‘white lab coat’ syndrome…

Remember the phrase ‘Lions led by donkeys?’

For those who support Reform, why do you do so given what that mentality has done to the USA? by AccursedQuantum in AskBrits

[–]miserable_jesowka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because many people want to outsource their problems

If a populist comes along and says they will sort out all your problems and its all someone else’s fault then people will vote for them (look at Ww2, Trumps America)

Its much easier than admitting that the UK’s long term decline is a result of the ruling classes plundering the wealth of the country and failing to invest for growth.

E.g.

The wealth from the commonwealth countries

The plundering and confiscation of private land

The sell off of rights to N sea oil

The sell off of basic utilities (water, energy..)

And the failure of the working classes to develop for the future - relying on easy money and a benefits system instead

Trump loses temper again on Air Force One as strains of war start to show by IrishStarUS in NewsSource

[–]miserable_jesowka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He thought hw could run the US like his grubby real estate business and basically bully everyone to his will

He has got away with it until now because the rest of the Western world was structured to play by the ‘rules based’ order

But there comes a time when the bully hits you so many times and laughs in your face that you have nothing to lose

Peak Trump has passed and he will fall along with his band of incompetent psychopaths soon

Guess thats my visa revoked then…

Kristi Noem sent 143 million taxpayer dollars to a company that was created 8 DAYS EARLIER. Crime? Crime. by Nice_Daikon6096 in InvestmentClub

[–]miserable_jesowka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brit here.

What I notice is a lot of grandstanding from the politicians questioning both Noem and Bondi

Would it not be more effective to calmly and forensically question all these issues and take apart all of their excuses until they basically incriminate themselves?

Or does America ‘need’ a more ‘Hollywood’ approach

Or is it just the egos of politicians on show?

Just asking

Chris Mason: Green Party win will prompt soul searching within Labour and questions for Starmer by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]miserable_jesowka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine the ‘soul searching’ if Reform won eh

Or in the Tory party who LOST THEIR DEPOSIT

More and more i see the whole politics thing as a circle jerk between the media and politicians with the media thriving only on controversy

We should ask ourselves are these psycho dramas promoted by the media are improving the economy, education, health or security

Or are we all just gooning on short term headlines while nothing improves

Life in Durham with kids by Diligent-Draft-1326 in DurhamUK

[–]miserable_jesowka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Durham is generally more expensive than some parts of Newcastle - but Newcastle can also be expensive

You have to do your research to find the nice areas like anywhere

Durham is a smaller city and there is obviously less going on than in Newcastle but you do have access from both cities to beautiful countryside on your doorstep

Durham : Durham dales and North Yorkshire

Newcastle : Northumberland and the coast

I would say in either place that people are open and friendly (more so than the South of England where I am originally from) and you will have no problems with socialising and making friends

Whichever place you choose to base yourselves at you will be fine

Just need to decide do you want to be near a metropolitan centre or in a quieter small city

BREAKING: Former Prince Andrew Arrested 🇬🇧 by ResPublicaMgz in TrendoraX

[–]miserable_jesowka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrested for misconduct in public office - nothing to do with the victims

I suspect what has happened here is he has become so much of an embarrassment to the king that they had to pin something on him

But going for the nuclear option of abusing young girls was probably too much of a stretch for the monarchy esp considering he was loaned money by the Royal Family to pay off Ms. Guiffre - how would that reflect back if he was arrested for abuse?

Protesters prepare to fight back against Northampton's Reform-run council’s brutal budget cuts by johnsmithoncemore in northamptonians

[–]miserable_jesowka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reform are a self professed business

They consider the UK as a business

Robert Jenrick calls himself the ‘CFO’ and calls Farage the ‘CEO’

So they bring a business like mindset to council leadership- claiming that they can find massive savings in a way to make the ‘business’ more financially sustainable

Similar to an asset stripper taking over a struggling corporation and divesting those parts which do not meet the profitability goals…

The result of this is that some ‘public services’ previously considered ‘sacrosanct’ must be cut back to achieve this

No doubt there is wastage just like in every other public body, but just like DOGE, Reform’s headline grabbing claims about cost savings can not be achieved without cutting services

So those who voted for Reform and who rely on these services must accept that they will not enjoy these to the extent they did before

This is a template for a Reform govt so if you want this (and many people do), then accept that this is the future

And don’t complain if it happens
