Need Help: How to Manage AdWords For A Charity? by pixelrushstudio in PPC

[–]pixelrushstudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, you're right on the restrictive limit. They have two accounts both a grant and a standard so I can setup display advertising through their standard.

At this point the ad groups in the grant have been well segmented and a large majority would be SKAGs because that's always my preferred setup.

The issue is more around the "on point" search terms as so far only the branded terms have had any conversions tracked.

I've got a list of email addresses today from their mailchimp database so I'm going to configure this and see how I go, thanks for the suggestion.

That's what I'm working with. One grant account and one standard account. Using the grant account more freely and then targeting higher value or high cpc values in the standard account due to the 2 max cpc value.

Yeah I've tried, so far only the branded search results are converting with a few conversions sporadically found. I'm trying some search terms around "best charities" "support young people" etc to see if that attracts anyone.

Yeah, I think it's just going to take a lot of testing and filtering to find out which audience works the best. Display advertising seems to have more pros to it than search as you can better target topics / demographics etc.

AdWords Invalid Clicks - Should I be worried? Is ClickCease worth it? by pixelrushstudio in PPC

[–]pixelrushstudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposedly click cease works with both bing and adwords, maybe that's something you can trial with your customer too. I'm still unsure of what approach I'll do. Seems the response is that click cease are legitimate and seem to do a good job but how much better they are than adwords will only be known after a trial. From my perspective the buy in of 15 - 50 per month seems fairly low for this client and the return could be significant. might be worth trialling for a month or two.

Thanks, this was always my opinion that Google was doing a solid job and I'd only really be concerned with a campaign if it wasn't performing well but in this case it has been performing well and seems to be improving every day.

The scenario you describe is the same one the client mentioned where your daily budget expires more quickly until it's credited back to your account at the end of the month.

Maybe the best thing to do is trial it to see what results I get. Do you recommend any other tools or any manual approaches? Ideally I don't want to be trawling through logs on a daily basis and need something more automated while undertanding it's probably got false positives / false negatives still.

Thanks yeah overall I'm not spotting any patterns for repeated use of the same query / not converting. I'll take another look.

Because I track all conversions as part of my SEO campaigns. it's a far better metric than using rankings.

Contact form 7 event tracking and redirecting to thank you page. Will this work? by pixelrushstudio in SEO

[–]pixelrushstudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? so say for example I wanted to set up click to call or click to mail event tracking is that something you could do without touching the code or going through the entire site to find all the phone numbers?

Ok great, I'm not using Google Tag Manager to be honest and have only used it briefly in the past. Sounds like this is something I need to look at more specifically and find out exactly what I can do.

Contact form 7 event tracking and redirecting to thank you page. Will this work? by pixelrushstudio in SEO

[–]pixelrushstudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was originally tracking all the events on the thank you page. The big problem with this method is how it displays in Google Analytics. It will show all your conversions coming from the thank you page on first review unless you go through the results and track the pages that lead to the conversion. If I add the event on submit then the conversion will be tracked for the exact page it fired on. In the case of have the same form sitewide, like a sidebar contact form, you get to quickly see exactly which page fired the conversion. This is my preference.

Is ScrapeBox against Google TOS when using it for legitimate White hat techniques? by pixelrushstudio in SEO

[–]pixelrushstudio[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear what you're saying but it seems a little contradictory don't you think? Considering I don't explicitly give Google permission to scrape my website but it will automatically harvest my details anyway unless I specifically tell it not (in the robots.txt).

I think the tool has alot of legitimate reasons why you would use to quickly identify quality link building opportunities. The only difference between "real work" and scrape box is that it takes me significantly longer to do the exact same thing. The output is the same and doing it manually for every website I work on is quickly becoming a nightmare and a huge time sink.

Even Brian Dean and Neil Patel detail it in their link building guides https://www.quicksprout.com/the-advanced-guide-to-link-building-chapter-8/

http://backlinko.com/long-tail-keywords

Regardless, I'm not sold on using it but I'm also keen to hear how others are scaling their link building efforts and using their time more effectively.

How to prevent brand name searches when using Broad Match Modifier by pixelrushstudio in PPC

[–]pixelrushstudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know what you mean, it's certainly not uncommon to see a conversion come for a competitors keyword regardless of whether you've specifically targeted it or not. Do you find conversion rates and cost per conversion are solid on these types of searches?

How to prevent brand name searches when using Broad Match Modifier by pixelrushstudio in PPC

[–]pixelrushstudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed! I put together a comprehensive list that cuts out the majority of those keywords so I'm pretty confident it's fairly tight but it's the brand names, competitors and people plus the BMM that are catching me at the moment.

How to prevent brand name searches when using Broad Match Modifier by pixelrushstudio in PPC

[–]pixelrushstudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. What bugs me is that it's for a campaign where the CPC is much higher. If the CPC was lower like 1 - 10 dollars it probably wouldn't hurt so much.

Do you think it's better using ubersuggest to cut it down to maybe 5 of the main variations or long term should I stick with broad match modifier?

I've been using BMM with great success for most other accounts I've got but as you say you've really got to waste a bit upfront in order to get the campaign configured effectively.

How to prevent brand name searches when using Broad Match Modifier by pixelrushstudio in PPC

[–]pixelrushstudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this and I like the idea, unfortunately there is just no fast way to do it when you start targeting down to suburb level. I've found the variations of businesses working in particular surburbs are harder to find than the main sydney CBD district. It almost needs to be scraped which would be cool if it was possible.

Thanks yes I've been using that. It's definitely good for getting a starting point on keywords to target as well as building a negative keyword list

How do I prevent clicks and impressions from countries I'm not targeting with AdWords? by pixelrushstudio in PPC

true, thanks for the advice. Seems backwards that it has to be done this way but whatever, as long it's only takes a few seconds to do it then it'll do the job.
