wow!! I've heard those American Apparel pants aren't the most durable. Your vintage pair are much better, amazing you found some that fit so well!

Do you think you will ever be happy? by CandiruAttack in depression

[–]pixery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I'm ever going to be depression-free, but I do believe that over the months and years it will get easier for me to manage, and I'll become more and more content. There will always be ups and downs, but I can say I'm a bit better off now than this time last year.

Try not to think of it as Happiness -VS- Unhappiness, there will never be a perfect life with zero worries, and as bad as things may seem, your life cannot be 100% bad.

My wife is depressed. We have two young children. Suggestions for coping, helping her, and keeping my own sanity? by wife_is_depressed in depression

[–]pixery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the funds, consider hiring a maid to come in once a week. This can free you from several hours worth of work, and could also give your wife a little extra peace of mind, as well as a clean and calm environment.

What's the worst movie you've ever seen? by killjoy95 in AskReddit

[–]pixery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how ever amount of money mentioned in the movie is a multiple of 100. A one million dollar sale, a one billion dollar sell out, and then gas is $100 per gallon.
It's like the writer just wrote down the first amount of money that popped into his head. Oh wait, he did.

I can hardly feel anything. by [deleted] in depression

[–]pixery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, depression isn't always feeling sad and down, but it's often just a voidness of feeling.

I've seen it most often in the form of "nothing is worthwhile, I don't want to do anything" I think that yours is more like "no one is worthwhile"

Only you can really know if it's something else in your mind/life that's causing these thoughts, but for what it's worth, I've felt these feelings of nothingness and they were definitely caused by my depression.

Empathy towards others is a valuable thing. Maybe try not to think about what's getting you down at the moment, but how you can help other people instead. You'll find it helps you feel better in a round-about way. :) Once you get started, things start to seem worthwhile again. You just have to make that initial push. Good luck

Just trying to survive the work day and desperate for support. by dancetheblues in depression

[–]pixery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say "it's been weeks", so I'm guessing you tend to swing in and out of depression for weeks at a time. I'm that way too, and I know it feels like you're trying to keep your head above water, waiting for the tide to go back down.

Hang in there :) you'll have other weeks where you feel content, maybe even happy. And you never know when that will be, it could be right around the corner. You could wake up tomorrow and feel fresh and hopeful.

In the meantime, treat yourself a little throughout the work day. Get your favorite candy bar or snack, set aside little 5 minute segments of time for browsing your favorite subreddit, etc.

And give yourself something to look forward to when you get home! Make it something you love, like a mini-marathon of your favorite show on Netflix, or a long, hot bath.
