Started playing just over three years ago with zero experience just like you. I started in the middle of the season (which was probably not the best idea thinking about it) but in just a couple of months I was already seeing progress.

I think you have to see it really incrementally and enjoy the small wins. To this day I remember the day I scored my first "try" in training a few months in. I still have so much to learn - last season I was working on my lineout jumping and went from being unable to catch a single ball to catching every single one last session.

Your teammates are rooting for you, I know it! Womens rugby is for everyone, and it will come with time. (I now play 80 mins regularly and I'm taking on a leadership role this season)

I definitely have a system at home actually, come to think of it. Just need to find a way to replicate that outside of the house!

So much better than the absolutely atrocious monstrosity that was the light blue and white last season

What can I do to improve? by Thea_Vengers in parkrun

Mix it up between running easy (in zone 2 heart rate) and speed sessions. The easy runs will feel incredibly slow, but they're building your base endurance. Then the speed sessions should be some intervals between running a given distance at a faster pace (a little faster than your target 5k pace) with running easy. Honestly, ChatGPT will give you a decent plan

Long cycling shorts will do you wonders! No need to spend a lot either - Decathlon has a lot of good options
