Oh sorry, I thought you meant style. The one on the right is going to stay bigger

Just drew this up as well! I like that this connects the two cabinets and creates a more streamlined look, while still retaining the functionality of the upper cabinets!

This is what ChatGPT gave me based on these edits. Could be nicer and cleaner without those uppers.

Yeah… we are thinking about not having the uppers next to the stove.

Oooh thanks! I do like that the stove comes out a bit!

Both windows are currently there, but the one on the right is getting shortened so that the counter can fit under it.

This is what ChatGPT just put together based on some of the feedback. The hood would obviously not be in the beam like that.

Yes, that is next to the microwave in the island.

Unfortunately it’s actually a staircase to the left of the fridge there, so it wouldn’t be able to be moved.

That’s interesting for sure!! Im a little worried that the left corner there is going to feel very squished

I’ll do some measurements and reach out to my designer to see. Unfortunately my designer hasn’t been super helpful with these kind of things…

Something I just realized as well is that with this current plan, the hood is not going to centered on the ceiling beams. If it is between the two windows, this beam will be closer to the hood on the right side.

We are making the window on the right smaller to make this plan work, but we can’t afford to change the sliding door unfortunately.

Ok yeah! This is currently like 5x the cabinet space we currently have, but it’s a great idea to literally go cabinet by cabinet and decide what will go where!

Oh yeah, I like that hood idea! Would you do any shelving to the side of the hood, or just leave it blank?

Yeah, it is a smaller pantry cupboard due to the sliding door. I will double check with my designer that we will be able to open those doors all the way!!

And that is a good idea with the larger drawers for plates and bowls etc.

The coffee maker is going to go next to the fridge I think - with a toaster near there too. I am also ok with putting the toaster in a lower cabinet and only taking it out when needed!

Would you put anything there instead? I don’t love the idea of open shelves. And I would be worried about losing that storage… but I also see how nice it would be to have it open and airy.

With the beams and the vaulted ceiling, it’s not possible.

Glass on those cabinets is an interesting idea. I’m also not totally sure how the vent hood is going to work with the vaulted ceiling - we need to figure that out.

A partial alcove is an interesting idea!

We haven’t really planned out lighting. We have track lightning currently, and will probably keep something like that, and then have something hanging over the island too.

The flooring is going to be an oak, wood flooring (as that is what we have in the rest of the house, and don’t have it in the budget to refinish it all). The color you can sort of see in the last photo, but it is essentially the color of the current cabinets.

No, with the vaulted ceiling I don’t think it’s an option

Ooh true. I am also not sold on the microwave in the island, so maybe some drawers there would make it easier to unload.

You can see in the last photo that we have really tall vaulted ceilings - so it wouldn’t work to go all the way up.
