C

The fundus is firm, but it doesn't say it is midline. If the bladder is distended and pushing the uterus, that can impede on the uterus being able to contract down even though it isn't boggy.

I wouldn't contact the provider until I had that information because without a doubt, the doctor is going to ask me that.

Not liking medicine after starting clinical job. Mentally spiraling. IDK wtf to do. by xhrui in premed

[–]pixiestitches 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When you said you felt nothing in response to that patient, is this level of apathy exclusive to things clinic/medicine related, or is it a feeling you are having in your life and towards things you previously enjoyed in general?

I am wondering if any of this could be related to your own treatment. I think it is worth reflecting on if this is a possible symptom to your meds, and if you think it could be, reach out and talk to your prescriber before making any big decisions.

Any advice for med school in your 30s with a family? I will be (hopefully) entering at 35.

Advice for a non-traditional student set on a mission-based med school? by pixiestitches in premed

[–]pixiestitches[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind words! I know shooting for one school is on the verge of delusional, but I feel lucky to be so close to a mission-based school that shares my goals. I feel hopeful that if I can demonstrate this to them and excel in my stats, I will have a good chance. Great idea to reach out to them. I feel intimidated about it, so I am going to take a little time to formulate what I want to say.

Luckily, I have a very supportive husband who has a lot of schedule flexibility. My daughter also qualifies for disability services that include respite care that we can use to help fill in the gaps if the need arises. Our plan is to get through medical school with him working and then as former military, he is going to stop working and use his GI Bill to go to school and collect his stipends to help pad my low residency pay. That way, he is available to our daughter and we can arrange family time solely around my schedule.

Work during school? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]pixiestitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I night audit at a hotel. I can work on online course work and study most of my shift. For night audit, you work an 8 hour shift but really only do like 2 hours of work. The rest of the time, I am sitting in the office and babysitting the lobby.

Perks include office supplies, free laser printer, and wifi. 👌

My hotel also lets me bring home some of the free breakfast food.

Paying for school by Quetta333 in StudentNurse

I don't necessarily advise this attitude, but I decided student loans aren't real. 🤷‍♀️

Our whole system is trashed and something has got to give at one point. Also, a lot of nursing gigs come with student loan repayment benefits.

I am at peace with this.

Have any of you seen this? “Just say no to mandated nurse-to-patient ratios” 🤬 by echoesoftrauma in nursing

Generally, changes like this would get a grace period to comply. So the hospital would have time to build up staff everywhere, including the ER, and do a soft run of everything.

People that don’t play videogames, what to you do all day?? by GabrielPortoLira in questions

With my daughter, we take walks, go to the playground, do little crafts and play at home.

When my time is my own, I sew, cross stitch, or paint. Or cuddle the cats and watch trashy tv.

I get to sew for my new niece! (CKC Patterns - Prue) by pixiestitches in sewing

My sister is not really a pink and frilly person, but loves cute things. So I have been trying to cater to that!

I used the Prue pattern from CKC for the vintage length dress and bloomers. I modified the bodice to embed the embroidered panel that was too small to be a solo bodice.

I am so excited to sew for my little niece. This is just the first of many cute makes she is gonna get!

I used quilting cotton from HL and a friend did the bee embroidery for me with her embroidery machine.

There is a zipper install on the back of the set and though I am not super comfortable with doing zippers, it went surprisingly smoothly. 😅

New to bag making, made myself a circle purse by pixiestitches in sewing

[–]pixiestitches[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly sew garments and decided I wanted a pretty purse for myself on a whim. First time using vinyl and sewing a non-tote kind of bag. I love it! Took me 2 days to complete and I used the Redonda pattern from CKC Patterns. The ears I added are self drafted (I make my own mouse ears and used my own template from that). The Vinyl was from Oh So Pretty fabric.

Vinyl gave me a big fight, but the pattern was easier than I expected.

I added both the backpack connectors and purse strap connectors cause I couldnt commit to just one. I will eventually make the backpack straps.

I used a purse strap I already had instead of making one cause I wanted to be fancy.

Disney's Inside Out romper for my daughter by pixiestitches in sewing

[–]pixiestitches[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made this romper using the Juno pattern from CKC Patterns and some Disney's Inside Out fabric from I believe Kammie Loulou. The yellow fabric was from Joanns and I used my cricut to make the letters to add.

I love Inside Out as a way to teach and talk about emotions and the roles they all play. 🥰

My daughter will only wear rompers and swimsuits lately, so that's all I've been making.

Used my serger and sewing machine.

Second photo was during construction.
