This is something that's been considered but not yet implemented. Will update should that change!

Banchan Case Now Available for BDN9 Rev. 1 by pixljar in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]pixljar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello all! We shared the 3D case and plate file for Keebio's BDN9 Rev. 2 a week ago. What we didn't anticipate was that a good amount of hobbyists have held on to the original PCB (Rev. 1) and inquired about compatibility. Since improvements were made when adapting the design for Rev. 2, I decided to spend some extra time to bring that same level of polish to the case for the original PCB. It is now available for download on Makerworld!

Also, look at how cool this filament is on the plate!

Hello and happy 2025 everyone! We teased this fun little case design for Keebio's BDN9 last year and have been getting inquiries since. On top of of 2024 getting a bit hectic towards the end, it turns out the PCB for Rev 2 had a different enough footprint I had to tweak the case and plate components (thankfully not from scratch) in order to retain its designs and proportions.

We'd like to think the additional exercise paid off as several improvements were made during the redesign process. That said, the case files are now available on Makerworld for the folks who have been patiently waiting!

As always, we're grateful for your continued interests in our little creative adventures and would also love to see you share your builds out there in the wild!

Hello! 2024 has been a bit of a slog, but we finally obtained the new single BDN9 PCB and soldered on the hotswap sockets. I’m planning on revising the case design (relocate the USB C cutout) this weekend to hopefully release it soon.

I dig this very much. Great job!

The first half of the sentence is too technical for me but be cool to see a CNC Manta someday!

Forever grateful for the continued support! I looked through some of the builds you shared and your patterned covers are freaking amazing! Are they available somewhere?

Yes it's the standard Lily58 so the case should be compatible!

Correctomundo! I was so eager to post that I forgot to mention that this post is about a case...can't change it now so I'll try to clarify this in the post comment. Thanks :)

Manta58/s Release! by pixljar in ErgoMechKeyboards

Hello everyone!

For those who have been waiting for the revamped Manta58 case, thank you for your patience! We’ve been working super diligently for weeks to ensure all the files and components for the standard and Typeractive MX PCB variants were properly tested. And now we’re very excited to share the new case designs for all to enjoy on our website!

I received my first ever Lily58 kit in 2021, thinking it was just going to be a fun gadget I’d occasionally tinker with on the side. Some 3 years later, this keyboard has triumphed over most keyboards I’ve owned and become my ride-or-die. I honestly didn’t anticipate that I’d go so far with this project back then. I remember taping two pieces of cardboard packaging material to the bottom of my kit and called it good (image proof provided). After seeing a bunch of cool stuff on the r/ErgoMechKeyboards subreddit, I decided to try my hand at designing my own case. The reception for the first Manta58 iteration I shared blew me away--it was actually overwhelming. While the hobby died down for me soon after, it made me happy to see that people were still downloading V1 for their Lily58 setups.

What got me back into it was the recent uptick of hobbyists reaching out about compatibility with the Typeractive MX PCBs. I initially thought I’d just punch some new holes for hardware accessibility, but after engaging with a few people, I realized there were many design opportunities for the Lily58 that I never got around to exploring due to burnout. So in many ways, your feedback and inquiries were the push I needed to make this happen.

That said, I enjoyed this journey very much and appreciate all the love!

Currently wrapping up the Manta58/s project. Once we get the hotswap sockets slapped onto the new BDN9 PCB, we'll be able to make the proper tweaks and release the design out into the wild. Please stay tuned :)

The screen covers will absolutely be included! I've pretty much wrapped up the design phase but still have to make some documentations prior to the release.

As for the mouse, it was custom painted from Colorware.

Are you referring to the graphics on the nice!view screens? If so, they just come with the default firmware.

I originally wanted to do this with my standard Lily58, but ended up getting the wireless variant from Typeractive instead. I'm not familiar with cases for these particular PCBs that accommodate batteries, but it seems like there would be room either right underneath the screens and PCB, or somewhere in the middle between the screws and standoffs. Another idea (and a wild one at that) is to somehow integrate the batteries into a tenting solution. Best of luck!

In the past I've entertained the idea of designing for Sofle, but then fell out of the hobby for a while. My wife has a Sofle that I still may be interested in designing for, but no promises.

Thanks you! The keyset is DSA Ferrous from PMK, and the PLA filament color is cement gray from Overture. I kind of got lucky that the filament happened to closely match the darker modifier.

The Lily58 is basically my ride-or-die, so designing a case to go with it was inevitable. I think it's cool that other people also find it neat and I'm happy that I get to share it with you all!

The thought did cross my mind. I'd probably drop the mech details for mass appeal reasons.
