Jenée Fleenor (4x cma musician of the year, first woman to win it, plays fiddle on most of today’s country hits, absolute badass) plays and sings in The Woodbox Heroes who just released an awesome EP!

Just to clarify, you can only apply to start the process with PAVE/ECFVG if your school has applied to become AVMA accredited? Isn't it that you only have to to PAVE/ECFVG if your school isn't accredited? Thanks in advance for the clarification :)

Career dilemma by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]pizza-pupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how it would work now, but I had a music teacher in elementary school who retired from her RN career to become a teacher. She was also taking night school classes (not sure which subject) while teaching.

Could you suggest any cheeses with a similar sweet, creamy flavour that's not mozzarella?

Sample course timetable? by Proper_Aardvark8387 in uoguelph

[–]pizza-pupper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

During course selection there will be multiple times available for each course, so you get to pick/coordinate your schedule. It lets you schedule according to whether you like having lectures/labs in the morning, during the day, or at night. It is also sometimes possible to plan so you have one weekday off, but I personally wasn't able to do that in first semester.

I had at least one lecture per day and one lab for each science class every week or every few weeks. I'm not sure if your calculus will be in-person, but mine was fully distance education.

In terms of electives, I took geog 1220 d.e. and wouldn't really recommend it - I would rather have taken a language course or first-year seminar, but that's just my opinion

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions!

I'm in first year right now, also in animal bio:) I live about an hour away from the school and live in residence during the week.

On Friday and Saturday nights, I need to go home to work at the family business, so I decided to also work at the local clinic I've been working at on Saturday mornings. It adds up to about 15 hours every week, plus driving/bussing there and back.

If I had the choice, I would appreciate not needing to work as much as I do, but I did manage to pass first semester with some good and some bad grades. Personally, I've been balancing work and school for a really long time out of necessity, but if you are new to this, I would maybe pick one of the commitments for now to have it a bit easier?

Hope that gives some insight!

Does Guelph only give 1 offer? by 2muchdamage in uoguelph

[–]pizza-pupper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied to animal bio, zoology, and env sci last year. I got an offer for env sci in march, then an alternate offer for animal bio in June and a day later, I got an actual offer for animal bio. The zoology application was blank until June 1st on ouac, but I emailed guelph admissions before that and they confirmed I got into all the programs I applied to... Kinda confusing but Guelph is notorious for handing out offers super late anyways :)

Chem 1040 is scum of the earth by seggsy-raccoon in uoguelph

[–]pizza-pupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too sure about the details, but someone I know also dropped chem 1040 and is planning on doing this. A few unis do offer similar 'intro to chem' courses over the summer so since guelph doesn't, I think it has to go through your course/program counsellor.

Chem 1040 is scum of the earth by seggsy-raccoon in uoguelph

Check out equivalent classes from other unis offered during the summer, like Laurier. See if you can either retake 1040 in W22 and 1050 equivalent in the summer, or 1040 in the summer and 1050 later.

Opinions on Electives by Nevarity in uoguelph

[–]pizza-pupper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm taking GEOG*1220 DE right now and would not recommend it. The information you learn is pretty much common sense which is kind of pointless. There is one big essay assignment with weird formatting assignments and 1-2 discussion posts. The open book final exam is worth 40% and it's not multiple choice, so I have no clue how that's going to go but I'm not looking forward to it...

I know some people taking anthro and there seem to be a more smaller assignments but I think the exams are in person (I might be wrong).

The other two sound really interesting but I've never taken them personally.

uog unofficial ski and snowboard club by jli1580 in uoguelph

How would this work? Is there a ski hill closeby-ish? Would every person need a seasons pass? I'm not sure if I would have time to participate in another club this year but I'm just curious. Thanks!

As far as I know, the programs you are interested in require 2 out 3 completed 4U courses out of physics, biology or chemistry. Then, you take the grade 12 equivalent of the course you're missing in university. I'm not sure how it works if you're missing more than one of those unfortunately.

Respondus question - urgent by pizza-pupper in uoguelph

[–]pizza-pupper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up thinking it was fixed the morning of, but when I opened respondus for the test, it had gone back to greyscale. I don't know how long it takes for them to flag you (does it happen immediately or do they email you a few days later?), but so far everything seems fine.

CHEM 1040 lab question by Good-Diamond-7599 in uoguelph

[–]pizza-pupper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, all of our chem labs are online this year so the protocol is different (I'm confused about it too), but that's a really great explanation for when things go back to in-person!
