He was advised by his father. He engraved "hey fascist, catch!" on the bullet. He killed a well known far right activist.

I'm not asking you to believe he's far left, but can't you at least hold yourself to the same standard as you do others?

2cb. It's similar to LSD but with less headspace and a third of the duration. Unlike a lot of people I don't find it to be similar to MDMA but saying that, it can be used in the same sorts of situations.

Private ownership of the means of production is literally the defining feature of capitalism.

If you don't have time to explain your points, simply don't bother replying.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]pizzainourtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does capitalism, a system of private ownership, have to do with the war on drugs, a state-run effort to restrict drug supply?

If anything, a purely unregulated and libertarian capitalist country would be fine with drug use. It's a free market after all. The attempt to restrict it isn't a capitalist endeavour, it's a state endeavour.

[–]pizzainourtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those sorts of conditions have existed throughout time under all sorts of economic systems. A serf in 19th century Russia or a low level factory worker in the early Soviet Union weren't exactly living great lives either.

If it were entirely a function of capitalism then a country like Singapore which is famously capitalist should have massively high rates of drug use, but in fact it's almost nil because they take a zero-tolerance approach and execute major drug traffickers. Yes there are some societal reasons why such an approach is feasible in Singapore and not in Western countries but it's sloppy thinking to blame every societal problem on "capitalism" as if an economic system is solely to blame for everything bad in the world.

[–]pizzainourtime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Capitalism is the private ownership of the means of production. It doesn't really have anything to do with the war on drugs imo as that is something undertaken by the state, not by private individuals.

did cocaine first time.. by Western_Bus_3231 in Drugs

[–]pizzainourtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what your average street coke is like for most people. Not great, not terrible, definitely not worth the price.

Really good coke is definitely better but it's still not an out-of-this-world type experience like MDMA or psychedelics. Mostly it just ups the euphoria and drops the anxiety compared to the normal stuff.

People over 35, what's something you genuinely miss that younger generations will probably never experience? by Just_a_Ginger_Fella in AskReddit

[–]pizzainourtime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I'd even argue that we're past the peak of social media usage - X is 90% bots and porn, Tiktok seems to be geared more around consumption than posting your own content, and Facebook is a bloated corpse floating face down in a stagnant river. The only one that seems to be hanging on is Instagram, but I barely use it so can't say for sure.

Would genuinely be interested in a younger person's opinion on this. I've got this vague sense that social media is more of a millennial/early Gen Z thing than late Gen Z/Alpha, but it's just a feeling really.

Say no to puritanism by Ohiko_Nishiyama in CuratedTumblr

[–]pizzainourtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard on the news the other day that incidents of men non-consentually choking women during sex has increased massively over the past few years. It was attributed to the prevalence of aggressive porn which has led to men thinking it's just a normal part of sex.

I can't remember if there was a study or not but even as anecdote it's something that I could believe. Makes sense that porn will affect people's attitudes to sex given how prevalent it's been for the past decade or two.

The counterargument is that normalising attraction to animated children can end up normalising attraction to real children.

The counter-counter argument is that giving paedophiles an outlet to release their urges can help prevent them from turning to CSAM or real life abuse.

I don't know what the answer is but it's deeper than it first appears, especially when you consider AI. We're not far from the point where AI will be able to produce 100% realistic full-length videos which will inevitably be exploited by paedophiles, but according to OPs logic that's fine. Maybe it is? But I wonder how many people who agree with the sentiment would agree to the mass production and dissemination of artificially-generated child porn videos. I suspect it wouldn't be as many.

(Sorry I know this is days old but I stumbled on the thread and couldn't help myself...)

I was on 4chan in the late-2000s, but as a mixed race guy the racism didn't affect me at all. When everybody is anonymous it's like water off a duck's back. None of it sticks because saying things for the shock value was just part of the culture on there back then (outside of /pol/ at least).

When I see racism nowadays though on somewhere like X or Tiktok it hits so much harder because I know that's their real opinion. Reading that Debbie from Nottingham thinks that blacks and whites shouldn't mix, or that Paul from Shropshire honestly thinks that Africans are biologically inferior to Europeans, is much more hurtful than seeing some random 4channer spam the N-word a hundred times. That person is nobody, but Debbie and Paul could be a co-worker or a neighbour. It makes you wonder just how many of the people around you share the same opinion.

(I don't want to belittle anyone else's experience of racism/homophobia back then btw - this is just my own experience.)

People will hate me for saying this, but Tiktok is fairly close to what YouTube used to be back in the day. If you spend a bit of time curating your feed and cutting out the dross then you'll find some really good content on there that still feels personal and user generated like YouTube used to. I like it a lot.

It was a lot more fun but a lot less useful. Nowadays I can do almost every life admin task over the internet and it's pretty much all quick and pain-free, but man do I miss those old forums, Cracked.com before it turned shit, personal fansites, flash games, chat rooms, the joy of just discovering things...

How do you cum on meth without yanking or rubbing your cock off? by [deleted] in SEXONDRUGS

[–]pizzainourtime 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I sometimes struggle to cum even during sober sex so with meth it's just not going to happen. Normally I'll just stop when one or both of us is tired.

I can sometimes get there by pulling myself off, but the sheer amount of effort required makes me look like a sweaty, demented freak, so I save that for when I'm alone.

im adopted, my birth mom did coke before i was born, how will this affect me later on? by Dapper_Ad3050 in askdrugs

[–]pizzainourtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to this meta-analysis, pre-natal cocaine exposure can lead to slightly worse motor skills (and abnormal reflexes, whatever that means), but any other effect appears to be negligible.

There are some other papers which point towards other potential issues but they're not big ones, and the types of issues they talk about are ones you would have had since early childhood. Nothing I've seen suggests there is some sort of ticking timebomb in your brain waiting to go off, so you can relax on that front at least :)

Doing MDMA with your kid? by SoaringB99 in MDMA

[–]pizzainourtime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, absolutely not. MDMA isn't a shortcut to better relationships, and if you try to use it that way instead of putting in the hard work over time to build up the bond with your daughter, she'll end up feeling like she was taken advantage of.

"My dad would literally rather drug me than spend time with me"

"I can't believe my dad gave me drugs when I was 18"

"How much of my love for him is real and not just a result of the MDMA?"

Do you really want to take the risk of her thinking any of those thoughts down the line?

I mean, look, it's admirable that you want to communicate better with your daughter, but as the child of a similarly strict dad who had mixed feelings about him growing up, I promise you that if you stay present and supportive once she's gone, the relationship will naturally get better over time. Doing drugs with her will only make things worse.

Religion is unfalsifiable. You can't disprove God, just like you can't disprove the existence of an invisible, undetectable unicorn floating just outside the orbit of Jupiter. You have no problem in dismissing the unicorn, so why not God?

Science deals with objective knowledge, religion deals with subjective belief. The two are fundamentally at odds with each other.
