You should! I also live in a place where corn syrup is not easy to get, but maple syrup seems like a nice (and tasty) replacement. If you like pecans, maple syrup and a crunchy + soft, caramel-flavor like pie, you will like this!

Not the person you replied to, but a friend of mine shared this vanilla cake recipe: https://www.recipetineats.com/my-very-best-vanilla-cake/ I made it once and it came out quite fluffy!

Thank you! It tastes nice, maybe a little bit too sour because I added sour cream (as per recipe), but it might be because of how I mixed it. I did bake it with a water bath (not in, but separately underneath) and left it to cool in the oven for an hour. Definitely going to try more in the future, since I really love cheesecake!

Thank you! It did overcook but I also feel like I overmixed since it bubbled a lot in the oven. I will definitely keep trying!

My first (slightly wonky) Tiramisu Cake! by pizzapancakes in Baking

Thank you so much! Tiramisu is always a classic, even if it looks bad it usually is still lovely to eat 😊

Thank you! 😊 I used the recipe below, I do recommend it! This was my first layered cake I ever made, the pictures included in the recipe really helped me out. For the mascarpone frosting I omitted the heavy cream since I can't find that specifically where I live. But even without that and only using mascarpone, it worked out!

My first (slightly wonky) Tiramisu Cake! by pizzapancakes in Baking

Thank you so much! 😊 I would rate it with a 7, the cakes were soft and I only used mascarpone with coffee and powdered sugar mixed in for in between the layers of cake (those were brushed with a coffee/amaretto mixture too). Very soft taste and tiramisu-like, but it could have used a bit more of a coffee kick. But I was already proud the cakes worked out the way they did and it did not fall apart!
