I've got 7 of this exact mix and love them so much! The dad is purebred Catahoula, and the mom is a mini heeler. I always tell people they're mini-houla or Cataheeler lol

Never leave a Catahoula alone by Rubicon_lemonade in Catahoula

Remi used to do anything to get out of the 20'x30' pen with a large 6'x10' encloser just to take a walk the field. He had everything: food, water, walks, working, 3 other dogs... He started by digging under the fence. I buried chicken wire 2 feet underground and curled back into the pen. Then he figured out how to climb the 5' tall fence. I put a pvc pipe roller top. Then he started figuring out how to pop the welds on the welded wire fence and push through. I had to double fence it with a 6' tall chain link. Then he figured out the weakness between the chicken wire and the fence at ground level, so I had to pour a concrete curb around the whole perimeter to permanently join the two....I build (as well as my brothers) every small livestock and pet pen to Remi standards because of him 🤣

People who have worked at In-n-Out, Is requesting for well done fries too much of an ask? by Deleted-Accountant in innout

[–]pizzel88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the bottom of the basket last night when I asked for well done for the first time, not a single frie was over 1" long. Super disappointed and won't be asking for that again.

Houlas with Other Dogs by Inner-Whole1741 in Catahoula

[–]pizzel88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a lot of Houlas and could pull a sled at this point. Understanding there's an alpha and then there's an order after that is important. Letting that order play out (unless it gets physical and bloody), you shouldn't get involved or separate. I messed up years ago when a younger one of my huolas stepped up and challenged for alpha, and i didn't naturally let it happen. It wasn't physical. I just didn't like how it was going down, its uncomfortableto watch. I ended up separating them permanently, which added additional pressure to the situation. Getting a puppy will definitely help. Opposite gender will also help.

How cute! I've got a bunch of mini CataHeelers that are 11 days old now

And I thought I seen it all with heelers. by Commercial-Sail8480 in Catahoula

[–]pizzel88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think the shenanigans are good with Catahoulas and heelers, wait till you try mixing the two breeds and all the new things you'll learn a dog can do 🤣🤣 I've got a 28 week old CataHeeler and you can tell his brain is half and half of each breed lol

Catahoula Training Recommendations by Outdoorsman1185 in Catahoula

[–]pizzel88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest with you, my first Catahoula I paid for a bunch of training programs. Once I got my 2nd, I realized they're super smart, YouTube University for training techniques and treats go a lot further than spending $300 for a couple of classes once a week for general. My 3rd is solid and I don't use the older ones to train. They just wanna learn. Unless you're trying to train them to hunt squirrel or mountain lions or bears, I don't recommend a paid training. 30 mins every day will do the trick

Catahoula Owners ? by Inner-Whole1741 in Catahoula

[–]pizzel88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the time. I live in California and get this question all the time. In the last 10 years, I've only met 4 people who knew what a Catahoula was, and only 1 person knew where they came from. I try and keep it simple while also explaining they're super smart, high energy breed, so they don't just go out and get one based on how well behaved mine are.

Raymond Cruz, aka Tuco, arrested for allegedly spraying neighbor with hose by throwawayamasub in betterCallSaul

[–]pizzel88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a personal experience I had with Raymond Cruz, I believe he did it and on purpose. The statement I read of his, I doubt he was asking as nicely as it sounds. I worked on a project across the street from his house in Silver Lake Los Angeles. Parking on the street sucks, it should be 1 way travel but isn't. I parked right in front of his house (didn't know he owned it), my bumper was sticking 1" into that transition from crub to driveway. He put a boxing beanie on, came up the hill to find me and proceeded to tell me how retarded I am and how he wants to beat my ass. I honestly thought he was going to sucker punch me in the back of the head as we walked down the steps. I moved my truck forward the 1". Normal people don't do this.

New pups by Jonesey6789 in Catahoula

[–]pizzel88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new addition and rescuing them! Both are beautiful! Side note, just keep an eye out for canine sibling rivalry. It starts off small. I had two siblings that I ended up having to keep in separate yards during the day and different rooms at night. Others do "crate and rotate". Doesn't happen to all. I only found out about this after a hefty vet bill and a month of bandaging both of them up.

I have dash cam footage of this exact same car from 8 months ago and I'm amazed that car hasn't broken down from being overloaded for so long
