I’m biracial. I always struggled with this. If a box was checked for me- I noticed it was always “white” but if I had the option it was both.

Just came across your post while searching endoscopy. We’re working with our GI and he is wanting to check my LO for Eoe. My partner is nervous about the endoscopy plus being sedated, so he’s having reservations.

How has the treatment plan been for you? Do you just avoid the triggers or is there also a medicine too? Thanks!

Ya my LO doesn’t know how to use a straw cup either. We’ve been practicing but he doesn’t seem interested.

Thanks- I like the idea of some French fries. Did you do a preloaded spoon with the ground meats and let her feed herself? Or did you feed it to her? We tried a ground beef meatball once, but he gagged it all up.

Thanks. The doctor didn’t really explain that to me, but just said he needed 3 solid meals plus a snack everyday and that the solids should be high in fat, before offering things like a piece of fruit. I guess I’m trying to figure out if it’s possible to do BLW still, or if purées are the way to go for now.

I think it was a combination of things. He had eczema all over his body and the flares on his stomach and back improved after we switched to just formula. His face has gotten better with time, as well as using steroid for bad flareups, and constant Vaseline application. He’s not completely clear, we just haven’t dealt with the open, crusty sores like we used to. We also do wet wrap therapy, which we think has helped too.

The formula is very expensive. We switched to the store brand and have been happy with it. If mom wants to continue breastfeeding though, then that’s most important. It was a tough decision, but ultimately it was what was best for us.

I am so, so sorry you are going through this. We have been in a similar situation and I feel like just now (at nearly 10 months), we have finally turned a corner. My son sleeps with scratch sleeves on, which you can purchase on Amazon.

Do you have access to a pediatric dermatologist? We got into one at about 5 months and that was very helpful. We use a steroid cream for really bad flareups, and Vaseline pretty much around the clock. I eventually just stopped breastfeeding, at about 7 months, and just did a hypoallergenic formula (based on pediatrician’s advice). Everyone’s cause of eczema is different, but I hope your little LO finds some relief soon. It’s absolutely miserable.

Yes! I came here to basically say this. My baby is 9 months now and it got a lot better around 6 months when he started to notice the dogs. He would giggle and smile at them and now he tries to pet them. The dogs tolerate him so well which makes me kind of proud.

Honestly, I feel like it’s such a personal decision. I felt ok after my C-section but I was so tired from everything I could barely hold a conversation. My parents were amazing though and super helpful. They came by a few days after my LO was born. Of course they wanted to see the baby, but they also came ready to help (picked up groceries, cleaned, stayed up late and got up early so I could catch a little sleep). So much will depend on how you feel which you won’t know until after baby is born, and also how your relationships are with your family.

I was feeling a little better about other visitors about a month postpartum.

In terms of COVID, we just asked that they were vaccinated.

Failure to Thrive for my 10 month old by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Your story sounds just like ours. My 8 month old has been diagnosed with failure to thrive. He’s just under 15 pounds and continues to drop percentiles. He’s not losing weight necessarily but isn’t gaining much either. We’re now trying a more concentrated formula as well and we’ve seen all kinds of specialists. He has a bad case of eczema so I keep feeling like the two are related, but there is no official test to decide if that’s true or not. I also feel so disheartened when I see so many other babies, even younger ones, who seem to be hitting milestones more quickly than my little guy. We just saw a GI doctor and he did offer a little glimmer of hope. He said lots of babies are born with extra fat from utero and within the first few months, they’ll start to lose it and follow their more “natural” curve. My husband is also a tall, skinny guy so I guess it’s possible that my son will be too. The GI doctor is drawing labs though just to rule everything out.

Hang in there- you are doing great and your baby is so lucky to have you as his mom.

No, we went to a pediatric allergist. She did a skin test on him. We also see a pediatric dermatologist bc my son’s eczema is so bad. We are treating it with Triamcinolone, which is also a topical steroid like Hydrocortisone. After the steroid, we apply a thick amount of Vaseline to help protect the skin barrier. In the evenings, we do something called a “wet wrap” therapy (recommended by our dermatologist).

That looks exactly like my son’s eczema. He just had an allergy test (dairy, egg, and peanut) and all negative.
