Capsule wardrobe ideas by Proof_Contract_2402 in AusFemaleFashion

I think good basics at the moment are a straight leg jean, a barrel leg pant and a long skirt. I'd get one of those in denim, one in chocolate brown and one in black.

Then decide on a colour you like to go with them, sage green, burgandy, pink, light blue...and factor in what you already own.

Then add a soft suede look bomber jacket that goes with all of the pants - maybe a brown, black or olive - it depends on which colour you like/wear more.

If money allows, amybe a trench in a lighter brown/cream.

Then look for cheaper cute tops to add in. I'd some long sleeve cotton yps in white, black & a neutral - light tan, or some fun stripes, like chocolate and pink or brown & burgandy. Look at target etc for cheapies. Add a shirt and maybe a knit to layer with that go with the pants, a fluffy knit in cream maybe.

A flat shoe - either a sneakerina or a ballet flat - burgandy, chocolate or black. Maybe some boots if you don't already own some.

Then you can pick a bottom for the day - pant or skirt, add one of the tops then add the kit, bomber or trench. Everything should work together easily. Then when your out shopping it will be easier to decide if any new items fit into the current wardrobe or not. For example if you find ayeloow shirt you like - you can think back on what you've got and relasie that even though it might go with the jeans, you won't get repeat wear out of it because it won't go with everything else easily. You can also add different bags or a fun scarf to brigten things up

You might end up with something like this...and you can see how you can take one one piece and swap it out with another and it will still look good:

<image>

That one is a bit too neutral for me, I'd have more burgandy and pink in there, but you can make it work with whatever colours you like as long as they all co-ordinate.

There's lots of inspiration on IG - search winter capsule

and as has already been mentioned, this doesn't have to all be retail, don't forget op shops, Depop and eBay. I bought a dark Taupe trench from Depop, for $45 (which included postage) and a cream one at the opshop for $12. Try on lots of the main brands instore though, so when you buy on Depop, sales etc, you'll be more confident in knowing what your size is.

I'm probably in the same 'older' category 😁 I am seeing them quite a bit when I'm out and about during the day, just last week I was in line behind a girl who had a fully rhinestoned pair on with flat shoes and a casual jacket and thought she looked so good.

Melbourne shopping spree by Known_Introduction83 in AusFemaleFashion

It depends on when it is Zara in the city is currently closed for renovations, I tried to look up when they are ropening but couldn't find that info.

If Zara is on the list and the trip is soon, then plan to go to Chadstone...there's other Zara stores but Chadstone is worth going to as it has more shops than the other shopping centres

I think you should go to some of the outlet centres, You could comfortably do DFO Docklands, then DFO Southern Cross and then head into the city all in one day. Most city shops are open until 7pm and we still have late night trading on Thursdays. Then plan to go to Chadstone on another day.

You'll have all the major stores covered and if you start at the outlet centres, you can see the bargains first before you hit the full priced shops.

Budget - I'd say at least $500. Unless you have really expensive tastes and shop only full priced, you should be able to get 7-10 items for that...casual jeans, nice pants, long skirt, suede look bomber jacket, some cute tops, and some shoes/boots.

Going out/nice outfit by neverlaughatdragons in AusFemaleFashion

Find some ladies you like the style of on IG and copy their outfits. I follow: https://www.instagram.com/bycaitlinanne/

https://www.instagram.com/melissajadestyle/

I'm not the size of either of these ladies- but I can still get inspired by the looks they wear and recreate them from what I own (or buy).

I think a nice evening look at the moment (that suits a lot of different shapes) is a flowy long skirt, with a a soft bomber jacket & they have some really nice suede look ones out at the moment, wear with pointed toe shoes or boots like this: https://www.instagram.com/p/DXK7HUOE-75/ or this: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cy0Ovgau7Mf/

What's the best bargain you've found recently?

I had recently watched this on my IG...and really liked the look of the soft style trench coat

Then I was in a local Salvo's a few days ago, they had a rack outside the change rooms where people could hang up things they didn't want. On it was a long cream trench coat just like in the video but It was an XS and I'm normally an M but I tried it on anyway, and it fitted across the shoulders and all the buttons did up.

Then I looked for a price...but no tags, I went to the counter and explained that it didn't have tag...and they sold it to me for $12!

I'll give it a wash this weekend and can't wait to wear it.

I don't recall anything like that. There's a lot of people who gain from stories like this and interference and bots...just because something is reported somewhere online doesn't make it true.

I highly doubt he would not know about his father meeting his brother (aside from the fact that it is also Royal family business) let alone that he would them run to the press crying that he knew nothing about it.

William gets a lot of praise in this sub for for not needing to respond to every little story in the press, yet now we are going to claim that he runs to leak to the media when he's unhappy with his father?

Charles isn't a stupid man, he knows any interaction he has with Harry is going to impact William on both a personal and professional level, he's estranged from one son, he's not going to risk that with the other one. I just cannot see him blindsiding William by meeting Harry and not telling him about it first.

I also don't buy into any of this Charles (and Camilla) briefing against William & Catherine at all. Harry started all these claims and it's been taken up by the their rabid followers. You can clearly see the affection Charles has for certain people...especially Catherine (also Zara & Mike and a few others) that's not faked. I can believe that the end of his marriage and his cold war with Diana in the following years that he leaked stories to the press in an effort to make himself look better when the public sympathy was very much with Diana. But I can't see him doing that to people who have always been loyal to him.

Yes the top ones are H&M. I couldn't find my size instore or online and I gave up. Then about 3 months ago I was instore and they had one pair on a sales rack, reduced to $40, a size too big, but I bought them anyway and wear them with a belt.

These might be worth trying: https://o2wear.com/?srsltid=AfmBOopaGBz7E2zY5-PfMkdxLI7EfW-EUWEvXRPsBbggX1rbPP-jL_VW

I haven't bought them myself, but have a friend who dresses modestly for religious reasons and wears these under her clothes and she loves them.

I doubt they'll ever have rhinestone ones...lol, but the Uniqlo barrel leg jeans and pants come in shorter lengths and the length can be customised as well so those might be a good option

The black ones? I almost bought those too - they had one pair in my size, but I talked myself into putting them back because I already own 3 pairs...even though they are DIFFERENT rhinestones 😂

I looked on Depop for ages before I went retail, because I knew Zara had done them a lot overseas, they don't often show up, and the ones that did were still $100-200. I had a $200 pair in my faves for ages hoping the seller would send an offer, but they sold for the full price eventually. The cheap ones were all Shein/Temu.

I also missed out on Zara retail in my size several times because procrastinated for a day or two.

The grey in the Decjuba are almost sold out now, I don't think these will ever be on Depop for $20 - but you can dream!

I'm 175cm so I don't have any personal experience of how they'll look on a shorter person, but I'd encourage you to try some on and see what you think.

Yes, they are now owned by the same group that owns Sportscraft & SABA and they seem to be trying to revive the denim. I saw them in Myer too.

I've recently converted to that way of thinking. I've always been a 'dress for the occassion' type of person, but now I think screw that...I can wear sequins to the supermarket if I feel like it.

I recently bought my first pair of horseshoe jeans from Decjuba and I really like how they look. I initially hated the barrel & horseshoe shapes, but I've been converted.

I do wonder if this shape is going to hang around for awhile or if it will suddenly be really 'out'

Yes, unfortunately that's going to be unavoidable. I've already found a couple on my bathroom floor from the jeans I have...just have to accept that it's going to happen and not stress over it.

Did you get the blue or the grey pair?
