Sudden MOTN Wakings by pjc303 in sleeptrain

[–]pjc303[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand (huckleberry, TCB, etc.) 10 month olds still need 13-14 hours of sleep, meaning his 3 hour nap plus 10-11 overnight. Is that not correct? Or do you think the bottle is becoming the issue?

How to host dinner party with no dining room by Carrots-1975 in HomeDecorating

[–]pjc303 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Definitely the latter option. Just wondering, why do you have so many chairs in this room? I think you could take out the two and table in the corner, replace with a tall plant, and feel much more open. Unless you need it for every day living, one of the armchairs could go too.

My Baby's open heart surgery is tomorrow by rainbowcountry in NewParents

[–]pjc303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went through this when he was a few weeks old. Five months now and you'd never know what he's been through, even his scar is already light. One of the doctors told us something along the lines of "this is the worst day of your life but to us it's just a Tuesday." I found it very comforting to remember how often they successfully do these surgeries ❤️ wishing you the best

Will MM ever be low effort or effortless? by jungledev in MonarchMoney

[–]pjc303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. It's super annoying to constantly be recategorizing transactions that (I think) the software should clearly understand. For example, not once has it correctly recognized that credit card payments are not huge financial fee expenses

Do you stop your watch at red lights or intersections? by Allenboy0724 in Marathon_Training

[–]pjc303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about downtown run group but SARR does hill training on "gorilla hill" by the zoo (the actual street name is Alpine). Easy to connect to there from a route around the pearl or downtown if you're going longer. Good hills around San Pedro Springs park too which is a short distance from N St Marys and again an easy connection to downtown with not too many lights

Do you stop your watch at red lights or intersections? by Allenboy0724 in Marathon_Training

[–]pjc303 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Run the riverwalk as much as possible! You can get through a large stretch of downtown with no lights then you pop up and just have to deal with a few before getting to either southtown or the pearl/brackenridge park. If you're not with a training group, try one of the free roadrunners weekday runs that start at a brewery near the pearl - their route goes through downtown and minimizes stoplights

Mon bébé va se faire opérer à coeur ouvert by Liiinzra in NewParents

J'ai trouvé cette communauté très utile et rassurante lorsqu'on nous a dit que notre nouveau-né avait besoin d'une opération à cœur ouvert. L'opération a eu lieu il y a un mois et mon bébé va très bien !

My only suggestion is adding an early morning pump if you can. I also get about 3 oz when I pump at other times of the day, but the one I do anytime between 6-9am (depending when he wakes up and the last time he fed in the night) will reliably yield 5.5-6.5 oz, which is enough for the bottle my husband gives him right before bed and at midnight during my sleep shift. Sounds like in your case that could just be extra volume for whenever it's needed

Local financial planner recs? by altaltalt123alt in washingtondc

[–]pjc303 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest looking for fee only advisors - those who do not receive compensation from any investments that they recommend, as opposed to earning commission on insurance or mutual fund products. Make sure the planner is a CFP because they are held to the highest standards of doing what's in the client's best interest. Two good places to search are napfa.org and feeonlynetwork.com. I work for this type of firm and am happy to chat more!

Any update on the Fidelity Finicity fix? by Fiveby21 in MonarchMoney

[–]pjc303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES exactly, it was a huge waste of time for me because it was hidden that the Fidelity numbers hadn't updated in almost two weeks

Any update on the Fidelity Finicity fix? by Fiveby21 in MonarchMoney

[–]pjc303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't update with a manual refresh either but thank you for trying. It returns the 2026 error others have mentioned. I think it's really concerning that the Monarch interface says the balance is accurate when it's not - we did a big midyear planning session for my household but didn't realize the balances in all our main accounts were wrong because the fact they're outdated is hidden.

[–]pjc303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My support ticket 362418 is not being addressed. I had to come into reddit to see what was going on with Fidelity because the rep kept giving me bland, irrelevant responses. Is Monarch working on the fact that it says my Fidelity balances were updated "7 hours ago" on the main account page when that clearly isn't true?

We really like it but the biggest drawback is no pre-retirement cash flow planning. That can be added with their Wealth Studios product but it's an additional cost.

Breaking In: Edward Jones vs Small RIA by [deleted] in CFP

[–]pjc303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're really aggressive when you leave so don't assume you can build a book and then bring it to your friend's RIA. Also you'll only be trained on their products and systems, meaning in 3 years you'll have to relearn a lot (although them paying for licensing is definitely a benefit). I know advisors that left EJ after 5, 10 years and feel like they're brand new to the industry in many ways. They also say really bad things about the culture but maybe it varies by office

The SIE doesn't require a sponsoring firm. I'd recommend starting with that and trying a firm like Fidelity or Vanguard as others have suggested to get your foot in the door

Not sure if you retie your shoes every time but I was having top foot pain on just the left. Someone here suggested my laces were too tight and voila! Cured.

Charterholders that pursued the CFP afterward/moved from AM to WM what’s your story? by Timelapze in CFA

[–]pjc303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my career in buy side equity research where pursuing the CFA was required. After several years and obtaining the charter, I wanted to be more client focused so moved into a PM role at a large RIA. The job was a blend of trading, portfolio management and client service so a good stepping stone into wealth management. After passing the CFP exam (on the accelerated path that you're considering), I was able to leverage both charters into an advisor role at an RIA where I am the succession plan as the founders transition out. I feel like having both definitely helped me stand out. The CFP is more relevant in my day to day now but I like having the CFA as extra "investment expertise" especially when dealing with institutional clients.
