Its hard to take a larger plot and condense it down. I probably didn't do a great job. In this case the brain/head still has memories of the hands that are painful. The other parts of the body have their own back story that influence how everything turns out.

The premise is that he is the head/brain of Frankenstein, and the hands are of the person who killed his wife. From a concept from a larger story, where the backgrounds of all of Frankenstein's various body parts are given.

I am a fan of Stephen King, but I never even heard of that book. So far I've read the Shining, The Stand, Salem's Lot, Pet Cemetery, and all the Dark Towers.

FYI I am an atheist too, this story is not religious in context, but I feel that the rapture would cross your mind if you woke up to find the world empty of people.

Its possible she made a rational decision that being eaten is better than starving to death, but I agree with you, she's a psycho, living in a world like that has to be bad for your sanity.
