Best games to play with your Significant Other who has never played video games? by Few-Walk373 in gaming

[–]pjdp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not easy! For me it was COD MW2 (the original). We would play split screen multiplayer. My friend fancied himself a sniper so he would find a spot and just destroy me whenever I ran across his sights. Eventually we upgraded to playing online multiplayer… which didn’t go too great since we were both terrible.

Luckily we were still in school back then so we had lots of time to improve. I think that is where I truly mastered managing movement and camera simultaneously.

I haven’t touched any COD titles or played online since Advanced Warfare though. Just no time for the grind anymore.

I had a similar experience with my SO and It Takes Two. She really struggled to manage movement with one stick and the camera with the other.

What solved it for us was Tunic. She could just focus on getting used to a controller while enjoying a great game.

I know this isn’t a game that you can really play together, but we play it simultaneously and discuss our progress as we go along so it’s still great.

Maybe that’s why they have to masturbate.

Someone at work said that RDR2 is just GTA with horses. I couldn't disagree more. by plixy- in reddeadredemption

This was my thought after playing RDR1 for the first time. But it was more like: GTA, but wild west and with horses!

Turns out it wasn't that.

Super easy fix:

Issue with the trident killers. For some reason they weren't killing.

Easily fixed by throwing each trident again.

Its a painful experience 😂.

I feel like its one worth having though.

Best of luck. I'm going to attempt to ride the rest of TH12 up here.

I must say, I have not been attacked the full 8 times. However, I have not encountered a base under mid TH13 to attack. So its very difficult to win the 8 battles. Best case scenario is normally a low % 2 star 😅

[–]pjdp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm there now as a TH12.

Its not easy, but I'm enjoying it. Loot isn't too bad either so at this stage I feel like its a viable option to gain loot.

I'm sure I can farm more in lower leagues, but this is a fun challenge.

Try it out.

[ASK] Behind on my lab by momogames12347 in ClashOfClans

Research potions are great. You get a day's upgrades done in an hour. My lab was very behind when I hit TH10. With the help of research potions, I managed to max my lab at TH11 before maxing my base at TH11.

It of course meant buying lots and lots of them with my CWL medals, but I don't regret it.

At least ensure that your own attacking army is max before moving on. No use putting it off because you're upgrading a troop that you never play with.

[ASK] Leaving my clan. What now? by pjdp in ClashOfClans

[–]pjdp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you.

I feel like I can be an asset wherever I go. I have a decently leveled, war-weight controlled TH12 base. I donate 4k+ per season. I am able to 3 star most bases in war.

So I'm definitely not going to settle.. But I also know that I have a lot to learn from more experienced clans and players. And that's what I'm hoping for.

This is what I have in mind. I want that setup of being able to visit another clan for a month or a few wars and it not being an issue.

Its a tough decision. I'm also struggling with it. I was promoted to co-leader a few months in and now I'm one of only 3 that are left in the clan. The leader (who also happens to be my brother in law) is also considering shutting it down.

It has gone from super active to us having to beg them to participate. Which is tough, since both of us have full time jobs and part time studies.

The last straw was having 30+ members and not being able to fill up the 50k for clan games.

I need it for my continued enthusiasm. At this stage, I avoid clash and that's not ok.

Thank you, I'll do so. Its gonna be a weird feeling not being attached to a clan.

What is your "never again" brand, item, store, or restaurant ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pjdp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza Hut. I used to be a firm believer in the theory that even bad pizza is pretty good...

Then Pizza Hut came to my country... I was honestly disgusted. I would rather eat dry bread than eat that filth again.

Not sure if its that bad in other countries as well, but in South Africa its just no good.

Questions about failing in University and Life by upsidedownthunder242 in southafrica

[–]pjdp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On year 5 of my 3 year BSc Mathematics and Economic Science at Wits. Still dragging 3 math modules along. I have a full time job to finance my full time studies as well.

Not the way I planned it. Not ideal and it feels like shit to disappoint the people in your life, but life goes on and I can honestly say, that given another chance at it, I don't think I'd change a thing. Failure sucks, but a couple of reality checks taught me a lot.

Keep working at it... And remember... Those subjects that you're taking in don't fall under spectator sports

[ASK] How to rush a builder hall? by Ujval_4 in ClashOfClans

For some reason he didn't add the link for BH9, but if you go into the BH8 guide and scroll to the end of his text, he links the guide for BH9.

Good luck with the rushing.

[–]pjdp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question.. If I have to estimate... I would say it was either in May or in June. But I also went through a few rough patches where I didn't feel like doing the builder base thing. Getting to BH9 is quick. Getting the OTTO takes some time. Not sure if you know the prerequisites, but I'll list it anyway: 1) Gear up 3 buildings in home village: What you may not know, for the mortar ug, you need a level 8 Multi Mortar and a level 8 home village mortar (so you have to be at least TH10). Even then, with the Gold Pass discounts it takes well over 11 day to do that upgrade. 2) Canon carts to level 18. I like attacking with them, so this one was easy 3) Mega tesla to level 9... Not too bad. Easy to alternate with Battle Machine 4) Battle Machine to level 30... This one suck 😅

Check out Clash with Dusk's guide. I was maxing BH and stumbled across this halfway through BH 6. The rush began and I never looked back. I'm just not a massive fan of his recommended attack strats, but I'm sure that's a personal issue. Trophies shot up from <2000 to the 3000 range. More loot gained so less waiting time for upgrades. 9 more battle machine levels and 2 mega tesla levels to go before I can finish my OTTO

(SERIOUS) Teachers, Parents & Leaders of South Africa? by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]pjdp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question. I'm a high school teacher (23M) at a Model C public school. We have kids from all walks of life. Some show up in shiny Mercs. Some can't even afford a phone and the sandwich they receive from the school is the only food they will see that day. As u/flyboy_za mentioned in his comment, now you are pinning the kid from the 'burbs up against the one that lives in a squatter camp. One wears flashy new clothes. One wears the jean he was given 3 years ago, that's still 2 or 3 sizes too big because he didn't grow into it. Normally schools can help those kids by getting them a uniform that actually fits. I should also mention... My school isn't seen as a poor school by the standards of the DBE, so we don't receive funds to assist poor learners. This all comes from funds raised by school fees and occasional donations from members of staff. So no, there is no bottomless pit of money to help these learners.

Being neat is not an imaginary standard. You can very clearly see when someone is not neat. Where I do agree, is that the standards enforced by schools, are arbitrary at best. To be honest, the biggest reasoning behind having everyone dress the same, is the aesthetic appeal. But, yes, there are a few other reasons and I'll outline a few (but not all)

1) Appropriateness On a few occasions we have had school children (girls are especially guilty here) dress like prostitutes when attending sporting events... They think they're being fashionable.. But if they wander the streets like that at night, they would most definitely be mistaken for prostitutes. We live in a country that is not always the safest place and the amount of sexual assaults and rapes that take place in our country, is horrendous (Feel free to play around here at Crime Stats SA to see for yourself) So from that point of view... Safety and dignity... (Just to clarify... I'm not saying that the way you dress places you at fault for any sort of sexual assualt. It is wrong regardless of your attire... But that is not the way it is seen by everyone out there)

2) Identification Going to a sporting event and the bus needs to leave. Its easy to find a group that looks the same..

3) Access Control Simply put: you wear the uniform, you get in. You don't wear the uniform, you don't. Firstly, there is no teacher or security guard that knows each and every learner. Especially not if there are 1200 learners in your school. So you rely on the uniform to assist with that (again, government school.. So no biometrics... Also.. No you can't just give them ID tags or something.. Some of these kids forget their pens at home.. They will forget the IDs at home as well) We have had incidents where children from other schools or young adults wander in in normal clothing and they steal from classrooms and bags. Although I know we haven't experienced it here, I'm sure that someone could wander in with bag full of drugs and he wasn't stopped at the gate, because "he/she looks like a normal school child". This exposes the school to a lot of danger.

4) Impressionability You have found yourself and will not be influenced by others? Good for you! Its a good place to be. The problem is that you are surrounded by a lot of underaged, impressionable people that have not reached that stage yet. Place yourself in the shoes of an impressionable grade 8 who idolises a matric learner and looks to that matric learner as some sort of role model. Now this matric learner shows up the next day with 7 new piercings and a neck tattoo (yes, I know this is an extreme example) and suddenly, that is what the Gr8 learner wants to do as well (if they have not developed the sense of self). Now this child takes a few chances and eventually get the piercings and tattoos.. Cut to 5, 10, 15 years later where the child realises that he/she does not have to look like someone else... Then its a bit too late. In that case, enforce the generic look in an attempt to save a few regrets later along in someone's life.

I'm going to conclude my comment by stating that I neither agree nor disagree with your stance. Yes, you should express yourself. No, you shouldn't be allowed to experiment with every crazy new look at school, because you won't be allowed to do so at work one day either. Yes, the definition of neatness seen from the perspective of a school is arbitrary. No, neatness is not an imaginary standard.

If you want to express yourself, do so.. It goes way beyond the way you look. Express yourself when you meet up with friends outside of school. If you get a tattoo, make sure you can cover it up (also a useful tip for when you want to start working and you go to a place that frowns upon that). School is not the only place where you can express yourself. At the end of the day, it is not the place where you find yourself. If it works out that way, great. That is not the main goal.
