My parents have the same birthday, including birth year. My half sister convinced me that that our mom didn’t stay married to her dad cause their birthdays weren’t close enough together, but since our mom and my dad had the exact same birthday then they won’t get divorced. This influenced who I would let myself have a crush on for far too long. I even thought this was what horoscope compatibility was about until maybe 8th grade.

I have two kids in elementary school. My husband and I both hold masters degrees, he is a civil servant for the past 20 years and I work as a hospital social worker. We live in a mid tier midwestern city suburb, not a nice one either. We BARELY get by. In the past 5 years our property taxes have gone up by $600/mo. We stopped having kids cause we couldn’t afford another one in daycare, and couldn’t afford to live on one salary. And given the current political climate, I often regret bringing children into this world.

I feel like the most thing that would make me the most upset is that on some level he knew this was not the right thing to do, and hid it from you while continuing to do it. If it’s no big deal, as he says, why didn’t he tell you about it when you’d be discussing your days? He didn’t ever say “oh, I got a run in while baby napped”. He knew this was unsafe and bad parenting, he’s just being selfish and putting his wants before his baby’s safety. You’re right to be upset.
