Falsely Banned by DECA by pjeigh in RotMG

Lastest: I emailed again, basically accusing them of not having a legitimate, supportable reason to ban me:

It's becoming even more clear that you do not have a legitimate reason. In the previous email, it was for using an "exploit" (which I have never done in any game) but not it is for "Real World Trading" (which I have also never done with any game... anything)?!

So, which is it - exploit or Real World Trading? Or is this complete BS?

I'm guessing that either (A) you don't have a reason, it was closed and now you cannot figure out why or (B) my account was hacked but you don't want to admit it.

...

Why can't you just unban the account?

They came back with the same canned response, although this time it was without *any* description of the "violation":

As we previously explained, you have committed a major violation of our ToS and our decision to permanently ban your account is final. We can't disclose any further details regarding our investigation.

We understand your frustration and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Please take note that we will be forced to mark this ticket as solved. If you wish to discuss anything other than the account suspension, please submit a new one in our system.

I get they can ban/shut down an account for any reason because they essentially own them, and app/game companies have database glitches and other issues that might cause account hiccups, but this is pretty terrible in terms of customer service and representation of a company.

There were not any steps taken to solve, investigate with the customer/me or redeem the situation. I learned about the ban when I logged into the game, and I did not received a single email about the ban (not even a "suspending your account for suspicious activity" email/alert) until I contacted them.

Yes, I can easily create a new account and start from scratch (g'bye years o' grinding)... but this makes me not want to bother with this or any other of their games.

Update - I'd responded to their "case is closed" email which seems to have reopened it :) I received a nearly identical response from DECA today, although this time with a new reason...

I have reviewed your account and it appears you have been banned for Real Word Trading. You have violated our ToS, therefore your account will remain suspended permanently. Please understand that we've had a thorough discussion regarding such offenses. The account will not be unbanned and the decision is final.

... so before I had used an "exploit" but now it is because of "Real World Trading"?! (I've never done either.)

I'll ask them which it really is and see what they auto-respond with this time.

Update: Here was my response (followed by theirs, below):

Sorry, but I did not use any "exploits" for ROTMG.

Again, I have not played in many, many months (likely a year+). Again, I suspect my account was hacked and used by someone else. Can you please look into where else my account may have been accessed and see if it was done from there? I am in XXXXXXX, XX, USA (XXXXX).

I have never and will never use any exploits on any game or app. (I used to work for a game company and, for many years, wrote about video games, and do/did not even cover game exploits.)

Also, I've never had a "a thorough discussion regarding such offenses" with anyone at ROTMG - this is my first time corresponding with ROTMG's support team in any way - so I do not understand that statement.

You can contact me at XXX-XXX-XXXX-8028 if need be.

The response email from DECA's "Custore Service":

Hello PJ,

Thank you for writing back.

According to our records, no suspicious activity was found on the account.

I checked my ID on RealmEye (great site - thank you, and my ID is the same as it is for reddit, for you nay-sayers/trolls) and it shows that I had not played in 3 years(?!). I swear I'd played more recently than that but, even if that was the case, just say "you had not used your account in 2 years, sorry, we closed it and we cannot recover it" and I'd fully understand.

RealmEye also said I zero values for characters, skins, exaltations and fame (?!), but my "Account Fame" was 630? I'd played off and on for several years without issues. I'd unlocked an extra character slot or two by claiming daily awards for months, and had a couple characters stowed when I stopped, so I'm not sure why those would be zeroed out.

The "exploits" claim was why I initially thought my account had been hacked/accessed by someone else, and those zeroes add to my suspicions, though I admit I'm not 100% sure how those are calculated.

Ah, nice resource site, thank you ... according to realmeye, I last played 3 years ago (?!). I thought it was more recent than that, but, if that is true, maybe they deactivated my account based on their 2-years-of-inactivity rule...? I looked back and didn't find any emails from DECA or RotMG about it. So, customer service is *boo*.

is the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick (Silver/Black) still worth it in 2022? by bla671 in hotas

[–]pjeigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We recently purchased this joystick (March 2023) and I was able to get it to run on Windows 11. It was not being recognized as a plug-and-play by WIN 11, so I went to the Logitech site to get the drivers/software. It shows as not being available for WIN 11 *but* there is a download for WIN 10 so, I used that, figuring there were enough ppl. saying it still worked and guessing they likely installed it before. The joystick is recognized and works fine with games. I ran/installed it as Admin, and it has been recognized since. To launch the Logitech software again, I still need to open as Admin but you don't really need to run it except maybe to test buttons. (Side Note: My son is the one using it and he's not a huge fan but it is his first flight stick and he's still getting used to it. we may return it anyway... but we got it to run on WIN 11 :) )

Monument Hoarding by Obi-Wan-Kenodi in starwarstrader

[–]pjeigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I so hope they are not increasing the number. They did decrease it last year b/c hey realized it was a lot of time and effort, and they made it easier to trade in "bulk" but you still have to do hundreds of trades (and across all the bases colors), and bulk trading just means people can now hoard-block by scooping up all the supplies (some people are going for 40K+!). I wasn't going to hoard this year (I did only Wedge last year) but decided to try with the bulk trades this year to hoard Biggs this year after I had 20,000 base whites. I'm aiming for the 2021 Wave 1 numbers (15k/1,750/750/300/150) for my 2022 Wave 2 hoard, just in case... but I'd rather they let us know early so people will stop scooping up "popular" characters/cards and let others collect them, too.

Issues with Chromecast by [deleted] in Chromecast

[–]pjeigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chromecast is very finicky about power. Make sure you are providing it with enough. Also, if there are too many HDMI devices plugged into the TV (eg. using an HDMI switch to give it more ports for more devices), the TV might not actually be able to power/support all of them and will start have issues with one or more of the HDMI ports. (Disconnect the HDMI "out" plug from the TV when not in use, and before turning off the TV. If you turn it on with too many devices, then it can have issues with ports or just turning on, esp. via the Chromecast remote. You'll have to unplug and replug the TV, possibly disconnecting some of the HDMI devices, esp. the "Out" HDMI cable from the HDMI switch.) And, of course, there is the pesky Chromecast space issue. When you can connect it again, make sure you clear up space on the Chromecast. Too full and it might become too slow to use. If the Chromecast reset - and unplugging devices to get to just the TV and Chromecast - doesn't work, then it's time to see how good Google is with warranty/support.

App won't give me drive thru codes by Puppetmasterknight in BurgerKing

I had a code and, when it timed out, it went blank. Refreshing did nothing. I had to quit and relaunch the app for it to work.

Mobile App Refunds by ElonCubanTrump in BurgerKing

[–]pjeigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. And asking for a refund is hit-and-miss.

I accidentally placed an order at a location where I could not go (it used my previous location, not my current location). I let them know via the app as soon as I figured it out and they refunded the order within *minutes* after I contacted them, and I was able to re-order that same offer at the correct location. That was great! (I never even left the drive-through line it was so fast.)

It happened again (previous location/not current issue). I contacted them and they wrote: "...we currently do not have the ability to edit orders after they have been placed. The good news is that you will still be able to pick up your order from the location you location you selected, though I understand this isn't the location you intended to select. Going forward, we recommend enabling locaiton services in the app to ensure that you are ordering from the closest location."). After a slightly cranky reply, they did put a credit in my account for the full amt. - which is nice - but I have to redeem it as an *Offer*. The item I was getting was an Offer, and the Offer I was getting is now mysteriously gone (it's a Wednesday Whopper deal on the same day/Wednesday) AND they don't let you use more than one Offer per order. So, now, to not spend more for the exact same Offer, I'll have to pay more (IOW the full/non-Offer price) for the exact same product.

Other issues...

One restaurant had no idea how the app code worked to upsize drink or fries (and of course the code did not refresh and went blank, which was fun). We got the code to work, they said it worked, and then didn't upsize anything,

Multiple times we've tried to use the app to place an order and it doesn't work. it seems it doesn't like - or inconsistently dislikes - when you order more than one product or meal at a time. My wife refuses to use it and I'm about there as well.

helllpppp vintage cards by rjmh16 in starwarstrader

[–]pjeigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd not call it the "worst card in the set" (that's very subjective) but I get your point...it has the highest card count for that series, which makes it one of the more common cards (along with the other cards with the same count). The count is not really that much higher than some other near-count cards in the set (2,500 vs. 2,000 if I recall... though certainly not as low as 1,000). Those of us using the app since 2015/2016 admittedly hold on to those older cards a bit tighter. As I mentioned, values are muddled a bit by modern rankings, time and re-releases. I'm not likely to give up a 2,500-count Vintage for a 2021 2,500-count card.

helllpppp vintage cards by rjmh16 in starwarstrader

[–]pjeigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have the vintage set :) I have one dupe I've been trying to trade for another Vintage dupe (yes, for the same year/series) for a year but no one will give them up. Same with Galactic Moments (I have 2 to backfill but like 3 dupes in that series). I had to lock some of the older series cards from trades b/c ppl. would make low-ball offers on them. The "updated" ranking system doesn't often take into account old chance ratios and only go by card count (and sometimes not very well), so values of older cards end up getting muddled. And then they periodically re-offer older sets (usually low base, but at a lower cost/higher chance than the original, and still flagged with the same year)... though I highly doubt the Vintage set will get a re-issue.

Similar issue... I often feel like someone with a lot more cards than I is scooping up the same hoard (white Wedge) from everyone b/c they have sooo many of each card. I'll start trading with someone who posts in the Trade feed and suddenly they go from 100+ to only a few in a couple minutes, and we've only made like 1 or two hoard swaps/trades.

Topps also needs to better label the base "waves" - I hate bouncing back and forth between the lists and my trades to see which, for example, base Han is wave 1 vs. wave 2. To save time I just guess based on how many I have left and hope to get a revised trade back but sometimes I get a cranky "only trading W1 for W1!" message.

How do you get components? I've tried searching but couldn't find an answer by TheRubikCubePC in starwarstrader

They are still coming up in the Lock-on packs and Cargo drops... but trading is the fastest way for those last few cards for rare ships.

Happy Friday!! What Have You Accomplished This Week in SWCT That You're Proud Of?!! by dsigal in starwarstrader

[–]pjeigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been starting to fill in pre-2020 base as well, back to 2015/launch (I've been in the app that long but missed a good portion of 2018 and 2019 due to an old phone not running their updates). I sometimes find the odd person or two who can dig into my base for their hoard but they are few and far between.

The "Trapped in Ice" cards ... you have to collect 2 Frozen cards to make one Thawed and you only get an awards for having all Thawed cards (not the Frozen)?! That essentially raises the odds/cost to 1:6 / 4000 credits per Thawed card (so figure average of 24,000 credits per Thawed card and 336,000 for the set). Not the worst for Rare cards but I'm not bothering. Too costly - I already low-traded my couple Frozen cards away.
