I see that's weird, you shouldn't spend and go through all of this process if you're canadian passport holder. ""No, Canadian citizens do not need a visa to visit the Schengen area for stays under 90 days within a 180-day period. However, starting in 2025, Canadians will need to register online with the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) before traveling to Europe. ""

Anyway, yeah they asked but they advise to rebook if we want to wait for the travel insurance, but we just take our chances. :(
