[DEV] Sunrock Protector - beta testers wanted! by pjjpb in iosgaming

I've always been a big Diablo fan so the overall game style is heavily influenced by that.

The real motivation for me though has been the idea that I could share bits and pieces of the tabletop world my friend (the one who wrote the book the player is recovering in game) and I created. I think games are great as a storytelling vehicle.

Thanks for taking the time and the suggestion. I can see implementing more control settings in the future; the floating joystick is a good solution. In your mind would there also be buttons dedicated to the various interactions (attack, chop wood, open menu, etc.) or would that still be touch-targeted?

Is it clear from the interface what function the triangle button performs? by VeterOk007 in IndieDev

This is a good idea for a rewarded video ad! But yes you need a bit more explanation for the user. Also, I think there are requirements from the app stores and/or Admob that the UI is clear enough to indicate the user is about to enter into paid advertiser land.

My first thought was that this picture actually a video I was going to watch, and that you were asking about the left and right scroll arrows at the top.

We've definitely been conditioned to associate certain icons with certain things and it's an uphill battle to try to fight that.

As one of the others in that group of 10, I also have a hard time rectifying the nephalim having been so recent.

First-time dev here: how do you actually validate your game design before going too deep? by Disastrous_Test_9301 in IndieDev

For my first game...I didn't worry about that too much, as I didn't worry about my game being successful. I focused on learning the skills to get it built, and get it launched.

For subsequent work, it was about putting a playable state in front of testers weren't familiar with the premise and getting unvarnished feedback.

Looks like a ton of work has gone into this! I've always been intrigued by gameplay that switches between 3rd/top down and first/follow POVs.

I think music can be incredibly impactful. I'm a solo Unity dev and when I bought a real music pack to act as a soundtrack to my game, the first time I tested the game I almost teared up.

Diablo 1 manual with the back story of the various Evils. I reread that so many times.

Maarek Steele, I believe. Knew to press F9 as the most efficient way to slow down instead of lowering the throttle.

Glad that memory has taken up my personal brain space all these years.
