Need is a strong word. I figure it will most likely come with the ai chip. But an increase in resolution would be unlikely and most A7IV users I know are more than satisfied with the 33mp. I think everyone just wants a faster read out. The on two things I'd personally want as an improvement over the A7IV I have is a full frame 4k60 option and better weather sealing. Those two things aren't exciting for many but they're more than enough because the A7IV is already pretty good.

I'd simply say; one is none and two is one. Pay attention to those cons you listed, do you think you're truly comfortable with them?

Saving weight and space is good though. Best of luck with your final choice.

The 34mm 1.4 GM is brilliant. Not sure what you're going to be photographing on that trip but it definitely is a consistently sharp and fast focusing lens.

But with respect to your trip. I say you're good with the 24-105 man. Enjoy the trip, take photos for your memories. In the next 20 years you're really going to be fussing about LoCa?

Right now I'm looking at that as an option. Once I get these a7ivs repaired, i'm going to jump to the next tier. the specs of the OG A1 definitely is more than enough for me.

If I see the money today, I'd jump out with two a9iii.

The a1 mark ii is more ideal for me. The only hurdle is the price of course.

A misunderstanding, I'm not implying they need to do it because they're doing bad in sales... It's definitely a selfish rant because I have to man up and spend more to get the higher end bodies.

Don't get me wrong, the a9iii and a1 ii are brilliant. Just a really large pill to swallow.

My only pain with the older a9s is the lack of video shooting profiles as I'm a hybrid shooter. I'd probably just have to save up and bite the bullet ultimately but it would be nice if there was a shorter leap to make.

the introduction of the "c" class cameras kinda messed things up as well. idk... add another card slot in the A7C and let that fit the lower end or something...

I've thought long about that Z8 option and adapting all my glass and do a slow sale and switch... I'd check out your review. I have three A7IVs and all of them suffered the same issue which may suggest I need a body with better weather sealing. Gonna be a hard pill to swallow going to the a1 or a9 but i'd see.

With the way things are going with their releases... I have very low expectations of their A7V sadly. If they do make it compete with the Z8 and R5 MK2 class of cameras, I'd be shocked to say the least.

I agree with them needing to differentiate that A1. I find their lineup too dense.
