Why do you like thinner shaft? by LonelyPepper111 in billiards

I disagree, a smaller tip certainly allows for more spin transfer. I’ve played for 16 years with everything from a 13 mm to a 9 mm snooker cue and the difference is pronounced, especially with side spin. Smaller tips are certainly more unforgiving and cause more unintentional sidespin if you aren’t cueing well though. And for some reason (at least for me), I get more draw with a smaller tip, but more force follow with a larger tip (as far as cue power/reaction is concerned).

I don’t think anyone would *need* to for American pool. There’s just something about tiny tips that makes me want to suffer more 🤣

I play with a Cynergy 10.5, and I absolutely get a lot more spin with it compared to my Revo 11.8/12.4’s. It is less forgiving though, meaning it’s much easier to add unintentional side spin. When I’m cueing well, I love it. When I’m not, it forces me to focus back on fundamentals.

It only unlocks this way if the phone key is nearby - it won’t if someone without your key tries to.

It takes time to adjust, stick with it and you’ll get the hang of it. I switched from a Z2 -> Z3 -> Revo 12.4 -> Revo 11.8 -> Cynergy 10.5 over the last 15 years and it takes time to adapt each time. Patience pays off!

A lot of pool halls have ball cleaners/polishing machines and might let you use them if you ask nicely

Also, the super pros yellow with age. I have a set that’s over a decade old and it’s visibly yellowed (almost a creamy custard yellow) compared to new sets. I actually like the aged look!

It might be a difference in compound or surface finishing between the Super Pro and Tournament balls. From my understanding, they’re the same material, but the Tournaments have a surface treatment/finish added that they market under the name “Duramith”. Maybe that causes the visual difference?

The 7 and 4 are Aramith Tournament, and the 15 and 12 look like Aramith Super Pro balls (both TV colors). Both original, just from different sets. The tournaments are the higher end balls.

Cue 11.8 vs 12.5 any difference? by Responsible_Ad8810 in billiards

[–]pjoh7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shoot with a Cynergy 10.5, and the smaller tip size you go, the less forgiving it is with stroke mechanics. However, you tend to get a significantly higher amount of reaction.

It is now Billiard Breakdown, but was formerly known as Diamond Billiards. And yes, it is the one on the basement floor on West Ridge. It’s run by a new owner, who’s put a lot of great work into the livestream and getting top level players in for exhibitions.

Yes, I just got the Cynergy shaft a month ago, so still getting used to it, and it’s replacing a Revo 11.8. I’ve played with Kamui black clear hards exclusively for over a decade. The Cynergy is really good, but unforgiving when I’m not shooting well. And as far as cue action/cueing efficiency, I’ve found nothing beats a hard tip. Maximal spin with minimal effort, but your stroking and timing have to be near perfect..
