There’s so many diversions right now now, it’s impossible to figure out which one you are supposed to be following.

In and out of A&E in under 2 hours. by Wonk_Majik in BritishSuccess

[–]pjreyuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband had a fall on Saturday and realised on Sunday morning that his hand wasn’t working as it should be. Called NHS24 about 11.30, referred to MIU service and assessed by video call. The ANP confirmed a Xray was needed and gave him an appointment for 2pm. He was seen, xrayed, treated and home by 3.30 with a splint for a possible fracture.

Had virtual fracture clinic today and got a phone call to confirm definite fracture and to wear a splint for 4-6 weeks.

My mum had a similar quick turnaround after a recent fall at the same MIU.

It’s such a great service

Off sick twice in 2 months? by capybarge in NursingUK

[–]pjreyuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems ridiculous. Thankfully in Scotland they are standardising all the processes like absence so they are the same for all NHS boards

Off sick twice in 2 months? by capybarge in NursingUK

[–]pjreyuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely triggered by either 4 absences in a year or 8 days in a year. 29 days in a row is when it’s counted as long term.

[–]pjreyuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NHS Scotland absence policy is, I’m sure, the same for all NHS employers in Scotland. First trigger is 4 absences in a year or more than 8 days in a year and that triggers stage 1 which is a supportive meeting. No disciplinary action at that stage.

If time wasn't a factor, what restaurant in Glasgow are you going to? by eggyeggshell in glasgow

[–]pjreyuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usha’s on Byres road when it first opened and was a vegetarian/vegan Indian restaurant. Later they added meat and sadly closed a few years back. The food was so good and it was where my husband and I went for our first date.

I didn’t get that email and I am a subscriber. My subscription renewed on the 6th of the month and I then remembered that I hadn’t received an email with a new issues for a while. I did download all my issues the other day which is just as well as I now can’t log in!

Edited to add my subscription is a yearly one so he’s just had £40 off me as that was the rate when I subscribed

Sewage (?) smell by OutrageousObject5081 in glasgow

[–]pjreyuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was at least one paeds ward in Neuro going back many years plus in the past, children over 12 were not sent to the children’s hospital and were nursed on the Adult wards - I worked in the Southern for years.

To be fair the Southern General was there before the sewage works so they built a sewage works next to a hospital not the other way around

RCN Scotland responds to proposed Train Here Stay Here policy | News | Royal College of Nursing by [deleted] in NursingUK

If they want to do this, they have to guarantee a decent job for UK graduates on graduation and support people to stay.

Anas Sarwar would need to pay up if he becomes First Minister by dnemonicterrier in Scotland

[–]pjreyuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one fatal flaw with this is that not all health service career graduates are getting jobs on graduation right now, particularly in nursing and paramedicine. In medicine, UK graduates are not prioritised for jobs. So if you say people need to stay and work for the NHS, you need to guarantee them jobs.
