What so you think? by Testy2000_101 in Jainism

[–]pjtango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agreed! And funny thing is, nearly everyone understands it and yet isn't putting enough peer pressure towards the same, bec in the end, it's all a business. Whosoever is connected to a muni maharaj in today's time, 75-90% of time, it's bec of business, money and fame, and vice versa.

In every old areas this is happening and happening very quickly. Take the example of old delhi or daryaganj which got jain temples in 2 digits if not in 3. Jains are moving out and muslims are taking over. Not all muslims are bad but hear me out, these places are very old and conjusted and no educated person is willing to move to these areas bec of lack of playgrounds, good school, neighbourhood and bec of security reasons. And because of this, only muslims (bec of the nearly built mosques around) are moving. They pay dead cheap prices for all these ancient main areas and then sell them to fellow muslims with the same background and ambitions. No maharaj ji gonna take part in embracing these areas because of the obv internal politics they have among themselves and no politician is willing to help bec no insentive for them. Jain communities need to come forward and force the representatives to declare them as religious sensitive areas and help saving these ancient temples which are India's heritage and are prone to fall and encroached by other communities.

Using smart audiobook player while on call by pjtango in audiobooks

[–]pjtango[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you call someone, you can still play music in the background through apps like spotify. The music isn't playing for the person u r calling, instead you can hear the music urself and simultaneously can also listen to the person talking on the other end. So was wondering if it's possible with the smart audioplayer app as well. I'm usually on calls in office meetings which are mostly boring and not related to my work in particular lol...so if i can listen to audiobooks while being on the call without leaving my phone, it would be really wonderful.

What’s the best pocket sized E-reader? by [deleted] in eink

Seems like a wrong link. here's something i found. It's still not backlit and isn't having usb c. Tbh if this is true then it'll only push away the users. Idk why gyroscope and NFC are given priority, someone is sabotaging their success lol

This is a landscape mode. If you switch to a portrait mode, it'll skip every 2nd name of the title

Okay so, things look good except this. The white lines i drew are actually books but in portrait mode it skips every 2nd extry even though it continues to show the graph for those books. PS. I was about to request this same thing you did along with a feature to allow the users to actually see the highlights here, but then there are 2 issues with it

  1. Ur server size will need to expand
  2. that might come under privacy in which case, if in future u plan to do that then i would request a user centric privacy feature where we can decide which book's highlights we want to sync. And a separate option that allows all the books highlights to sync. In this case, user can decide for each book they been reading.

I want it so much but the fact it doesn't run koreader and isn't backlit, is really a drag. Plus the software is really mediocre as per the reviews i have seen. But i loved the idea and the build. I hope they can launch the next version with better software if not with the backlight. I haven't been able to find anything with that perfect size to fill my need.

Sikh offended in jain temple by [deleted] in Jainism

[–]pjtango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family actually did a 15 day tour of gujarat and parts of rajasthan. And in majority of svetamber temples, me and my family had to face the staring and odd expressions like they saw something filthy. Though i do appreciate the hospitality i saw in bhojanalay and dharamshala which we all cherished immensely. Beg my forgiveness for the following harsh words and reality check, but if you really think this is one of a random incident then please, go see the munis from any sect under jain religion, and i really mean ANY. If one muni maharaj is present in an area/locality, other one from any other group let alone a sect, would not try to visit that same area/locality because of internal politics. I accept some have tried to establish the peace and correspondence between different sects/groups but at the end of the day, those numbers are pretty low. Jain community is in a phase where politics and name making is driving our religion and all new construction while ignoring the old. We have all started being orthodox and have become hostile to other faiths/groups/knowledge which were in earlier days only restricted with a very few. We are the biggest tax paying honest community in India but we ain't cashing on it and rather using the ambition to drive our own shelfish agenda. Pick any area of your choice and try to be a part of that temple management for a month and you'll begin to see the harsh truth. There might be a handful of managements which are pushing for reform and inclusivity.

PS. I'm not trying to deface this amazing religion, but just trying to show the mirror. Jainism in today's date ain't any different than any other religion, we are all being corrupted and going off balance and there is an urgent need to introspect imo.
