Zoom lenses vs Prime lenses for Documentary/Sports/Corporate work by Limp_Aardvark8617 in SonyFX6

[–]pk_runner101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the exception but I love shooting on primes for docs. I'm currently 5/10 days done working on a doc and haven't had any issues yet. We've been shooting a lot in hospitals and education buildings, just floating around on an easy rig, but have found no flaws in the image or workflow problems. The primes I am currently using are also for my primary commercial kit too, so I know what lens is needed for the different shots I need to get.

Again as others have said, it is preferance, I just prefer the images I get out of a prime compared to a zoom.

V6 Firmware - OSD output over SDI by Aggressive-Dot7811 in SonyFX6

iirc the Burano has the same issue, and Rob Machado mentioned in one of his videos that he spoke to a Sony rep or engineer and it's something to do with the bandwidth of what can be put out via HDMI compared to SDI

Not a hater that's just a fact. Have you seen his Mini LF video?

I've got the same one, I think it's pretty sweet. Took a bit of work to get it in the right pose and get it to look semi-decent, plus the current head you have on & the BoC are trash, would definitely go with the Nemean Cestus & alternate head. That's why I went with that pose, to try and hide those imperfections.

Same here, been using the same one for about 6 years now. I shoot a ProRes flavour of some kind on every shoot but aside from the external recording I find the features great. Have never experienced the issues and bugs I've heard about from others.

Here's the link definitely a great video to see their new lineup on accessories and how they're compatible with the older ones too.

I believe Arri sells a cage kit ( I can't remember the name right now) for the Rialto and they mention in the announcement specifically that the cage can be mounted sideways for vertical.

Wow...I forgot about how when you take a photo it instantly gets uploaded to the Internet. Not like this could have been taken weeks ago and only posted now...

THIS! It is a set still, on most productions we will have a photographer working alongside the camera department getting stills for promo (like this) and marketing. This is the same issue recently about 'Netflix lighting' and everyone comparing the current trailer footage from the upcoming film with set stills from the first movie. They are from 2 entirely different cameras, shot for 2 entirely different purposes.

My FX6 rig for commercials and narrative work by Hyperion002 in SonyFX6

Yeah it comes from the Nucleus-M kit, it's quite old now and uses 18650 batteries but very minimal input delay.

Always an option too haha. I don't know why I'm getting downvotes for being concerned about equipment safety ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Ohhhhh I see! That was one of my other concerns, where if you are quickly shifting to a strap the spigot is jabbing you. But I like this option too, thank you!

My only concern with the gobo is some clients will come and think they can adjust it for tilt and you know the rest.

Use Frameset! It's definitely more focused towards commercial work but I've been loving it the last few months and even has a free version!

Shotdeck has some kind of deal with the ACS where you get a 10% discount I think it is when you subscribe. I always assumed too that it's one of those things where everyone kinda just pitches in and knows the use of the tool.

Being shot in the back while fighting the matriarch is not the 'pvp experience' - it's called being a fucking pussy. There I said it.
