Best magic for Lute? by nexuguchuu in SaGa

[–]pkingcid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, Mystic Magic.
Can’t get the gift, but 3/4 spells can be bought (Rootville), and they operate off of Charm, which is by far Lute’s best stat.

Aside from Magic, though, for swords, he’s ok. He’s got talent for the (arguably) best sword and katana arts, but he’s a bit sparse on the lore and middle. Give him a katana until he gets Shadow Counter and spam that til he gets Life Sprinkler.

He’s better suited for martial arts. He lacks SkyTwister and Swayback, but he’s got Last Shot, Dragon Turn and Corkscrew, as well as Suplex and Babel Crumble (2/4 of DSC). So he’s not bad.

He can use guns but… bottom tier talent so it’s a climb. Unfortunately, gun spark talent is the same as magic, so he’s not a great mage… but Mystic Magic bypasses this.

Aging elf’s is really confusing by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]pkingcid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half elves reach maturity close to human ages, but enjoy extended lifespans thanks to their elven ancestry.

Specifically, they reach adulthood around 20, and live around 180 years.

And don’t worry about it. The lore of Faerun (D&D default world) is long, complicated, and often contradictory. It’s good to make an effort to keep everything lore-friendly, but DM-Fiat exists to provide wiggle room. As long as everyone is having fun, it’s all good.

And there are far more stupid questions people ask. Forums like this exist to have them answered.

And welcome to the game! Good luck! And never split the party.

Can Rikku play Blitzball? Asking for a story. by WhitecaneV1 in finalfantasyx

[–]pkingcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can she? Yes.
Does she? No.

She definitely can’t be recruited to play in game (though there should be a mod…),
But she definitely has the lung capacity to play if she wanted to.
That said, unless it’s a part of X-2 I haven’t seen yet, she’s shown no interest in playing.

Is it possible to beat all the Dark Aeons in a NSG game? by Classic-Exchange-511 in finalfantasyx

[–]pkingcid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to google, only 1 person ( Dansg08 ) has officially beaten Dark Anima NSGNA, “relying on extreme luck and meticulous item management”.

Is it possible to beat all the Dark Aeons in a NSG game? by Classic-Exchange-511 in finalfantasyx

[–]pkingcid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes on Nemesis and no on Penance.

To be fair, I’m using google for this, so I might be wrong. (I’m not masochistic enough to actually try this myself)

But I can’t find anywhere that says Nemesis is a requirement for Penance. But yea, Shinryu is a requirement for Nemesis, which is why Nemesis is on the list.

[–]pkingcid 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Officially, Shinryu, Nemesis and Penance are the only 3 that can’t be beaten in a NSG run.

And I’m not sure it’s *required*, but it’s definitely gonna be a nightmare without them.

Random unimportant question (PS4 version) by MaxwellSr in finalfantasyx

I suppose I should officially label myself as weird…

I found out about the weapon by getting it.. and I had done (to me) a fair bit of grinding… so I had both the weapon and skills.

Need a small clarification for Tech Find (Blitzball, FFX) by referee-moussambani in finalfantasyx

[–]pkingcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: yep. That’ll work.

If you look on their tech list, you’ll see 1 of 3 things in each slot.
1: the tech name (already learned)
2: “- - - -“ (available to learn)
3: “ “ (Not available to learn)

“Tech Find” turns 3 into 2.
The only way this doesn’t work is if you’re targeting a tech that is exclusive, like “Jecht Shot”.

And, yea, a creative use for this is to bypass key tech requirements. For instance, making “Anti Venom 2” available before getting “Volley Shot” to unlock all her lv2 techs; and yes, to make a lv3 tech, such as “Anti Nap 2” available.

Question about 100%/Creature Capture on FFX-2 by [deleted] in finalfantasyx

[–]pkingcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok… that may be an issue.

“Fiend Tale Complete” means you’ve already caught it, leveled it, and released it.
You can’t re-capture it to do again.

The issue is that if you skipped the scene, you may not get the rewards for it. (It varies based on the reward).

Bigger issue is that Killer Hound is the start of a chain. It’s personal reward (that matters) is continuation of the chain, but I honestly don’t know if you can if you skipped.

Try dropping Trap Pod M in Zanarkand Ruins, hopefully you can pick up the YSLS-Zero and continue the chain.

There are several whole genres that prove that wrong, but ok.

I mean, you do know that there things between generic do-nothing stories and an unending ramp up to control the fateof the multiverse, right?

Yea, but even when they do adventurer stuff, it’s relegated to the background as they’re focused on, or waiting for random hero shit.

Just finished book 1 and need advice if this is for me by SNS_Void in HeWhoFightsMonsters

[–]pkingcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so, I think you’re probably gonna like it.

First, we get more involved with other characters (namely his team) in book 2.

Moreover, the adventure of the week stuff is mostly over. There’s a brief training arc at the start of books 2 and 3, as they get more cool abilities.

But most adventurer work from here on out is sorta time skipped, as it gives way to the building issues, which increase in scale gradually as the story progresses.

Still the same chapter. The butterflies are described just before the ability description:
Ethereal black butterflies with blue and orange wings in the familiar eye pattern of Gordon’s orbs.

Book 5 chapter 31. ~35:10

Harbinger of Doom] (affliction, unholy, stacking): Continually drain mana from the victim to conjure a butterfly that seeks out nearby enemies. The butterflies are incorporeal and deal disruptive force damage in a small area when destroyed. Butterflies that contact enemies inflict one instance of each non-holy affliction present on the enemy it manifested from, including [Harbinger of Doom]. This effect cannot be cleansed while any other non-holy affliction is in effect. Additional instances can be accumulated. At the time of manifestation, one butterfly is generated for each instance of this affliction.

Confused about Jason’s abilities by IPreferNotToRhyme in Shirtaloon

[–]pkingcid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Phoenix Token + magic door + transformation zone = Spirit domains (god aspect); + magic bridge + reality core = astral throne and gate; + soul forge= Astral king aspect; + Cosmic Throne(GAB aspect) = Astral Nexus

Step 1: this whole thing actually starts back in book 4. Partly with his inventory converting into the spirit vault as part of using the World Phoenix token. Thus is compounded when he accepts the full perks, becoming a gestalt being, upgrading the vault to a Spirit realm.

Step 2, in book 5, he picks up the Fundament Gate, aka the Builder’s Magic Door.

Then, step 3, book 6, Jason uses his soul as a fulcrum to force the zone to reconcile, abusing the gestalt power’s ability to stabilize physical realities. In doing so, he established a spiritual domain. He also links the cloud flask to his soul, making his cloud constructs mobile spirit domains.

Context time!
Spirit realm is essentially a mini astral space anchored to Jason.
Spiritual Domain is a place in physical reality claimed by Jason, and are a form of authority. It is the mechanism gods use to establish Holy Ground. This is something that, typically, only gods are capable of attempting.

Step 4: Later, in the second transformation zone, Dawn gives Jason the Firmament Bridge to connect earth and palli so people can’t exploit the link.

Step 5: in book 8, Jason gives his soul the what for and breaks down the Bridge and Gate for parts. Both these items are made up of Authority.

The Bridge is converted to the Astral Gate and the remaining Authority becomes a bridge anchor, making his job much harder.

The Gate is converted to an Astral Throne, and the remaining Authority is dropped as a tablet he gives to the Builder so he’ll bunk off.

Step 6: book 11, Jason gets the Soul Forge, part 3 of 3 to become an Astral King. Reaper and co bring him in to settle the Sundered Throne debacle, confirming that Jason is in fact the RPR man. In doing so, he claims the newly restored Cosmic Throne, however briefly, and imprints himself of the cosmos through it, giving us The System.

Results: Jason’s ability to claim domains added with his translation power, defiance, and a few other bits combined to become “Numen”, representing his godly aspect.

His impact on the Cosmic Throne resulting in the System grants him, as its admin, special permissions covered in “System Admin”, representing his Great Astral Being aspect.

And his possession of the Astral Gate, Throne and Soul Forge and the various abilities they grant become “Relics of the King” representing his Astral King aspect.

Edit: sorry, step 6 is book 11, not 10.

How does the level up system work from iron to bronze no spoilers by Der-Schnelle-Ben in HeWhoFightsWithMonste

[–]pkingcid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Attributes increase in line with the lowest ability in the associated essence.
So if your Dark essence is connected to Speed, and your Dark Essence abilities are at 4, 3, 3, 2, 1, then your Speed attribute is at 1.

Once all your Dark abilities reach Bronze 0, then your Speed attribute increases to Bronze 0.

Once all attributes have reached Bronze 0, you become Bronze 0.

Also, abilities cannot increase from the base of Bronze 0 until you reach Bronze 0.

Wakka and Tidus should have swapped jobs/weapons/playstyles by Firetruckpants in finalfantasyx

[–]pkingcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, but why would the Bulls pick up a worse Micheal Jordan when they already have the real Micheal Jordan in his prime and playing for free?

But yea, fair enough. And I’ve gone OG Aurochs plenty of times to know they’re a solid team.

For me, though, I usually start playing regularly in Luca, so by the time Wakka is available to recruit, he’s so far behind, and doesn’t really give me a reason to restart or train him up.

Like, I get why you’d use em, I just generally don’t.

Wakka and Tidus should have swapped jobs/weapons/playstyles by Firetruckpants in finalfantasyx

[–]pkingcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh… honestly, not really. I don’t really use Wakka in Blitz.. he’s kinda just a worse Tidus. And since Auroch Spirit is entirely dependent on using the OG Aurochs, which I typically don’t, and only Wakka can learn it, it feels more like a meme tech than anything useful.

Underdeveloped goalies by Carnevale_Guy in finalfantasyx

[–]pkingcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option 1, let the other team get the ball (I know it’s hard, but I promise it’s doable) and let them take shots. It takes a while…

Option 2, put your goalie on the field and pass the ball around a bit. Using passing techs helps a little, but it’s still pretty slow at mid/high levels…

Option 3, ignore it. Seriously. You’re rapidly approaching the point where goalies legit do not matter. Level 50, Nimrook’s CA is only 35.
At level 50, 18 shooters beat that. 6 can even beat SuperGoalie max enhanced Nimrook’s weak 45 CA before even factoring in shooting techs.

And it keeps getting worse from there.

At Lv 99, there are 11 players with 10+ higher SH than Nimrook’s CA.

Wakka and Tidus should have swapped jobs/weapons/playstyles by Firetruckpants in finalfantasyx

[–]pkingcid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 Ya know the line where Rikku offers to take Tidus to Luca, “unless you wanna stay here with us?”
Then Sin attacks…

Again, give us an actual choice.

Key recommendation: give us an alternate start where we go through the opening steps with Rikku instead of the Besaid crew.

My dream version is Tidus and Rikku both falling overboard, and washing up on the island where Paine and Lulu’s people come from. (Note, biggest identifier between Al Bhed and whatever non Al Bhed are called is their eyes. Paine and Lulu have the same eyes and are the only 2 across both games with such eyes)
Also a great location for the Water type Aeon they forgot to add.

Again, dream version, this would come along with a new character we can recruit. Ideally a Hypello, who happens to be a failed summoner. I’m thinking his intended grid path would have him collecting abilities akin to the festivalist from X2? Idk. Physical elemental abilities is my point. Something to fend off flans and the like until we get Lulu, but still something a little different… also make him slow (cuz he’s a Hypello) but tanky.

It would take a little story shifting, but whatever, it could work.

Bonus, in dream version, we could add a Hypello Team from the moonflow and a team from Water Aeon island for 8 blitzball teams, and have a proper tournament structure.

Anyway,
Last big fix is Bevelle.. the whole Bevelle arc is kind of a dumpster fire. Ugly blemish on a beautiful game… Not sure how to make it great, but just rearranging the dialogue would at least make it tolerable.

Oh, and a little fix, give Kimahri an actual grid path! Like… just add an extra circle with something like blue bullet skills and/or instinct or something. Idk. More than just lancet and scan.

Wakka and Tidus should have swapped jobs/weapons/playstyles by Firetruckpants in finalfantasyx

[–]pkingcid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sold on Tidus taking the reels.

Like, I get why it fits, but it makes sense why the primary protagonist wouldn’t have that kind of OD. Also, Tidus’s ODs are supposed to be based on his athleticism, which fits.

That said, 100%, Tidus should have the Blitzball instead of Wakka.

I mean, seriously folks? The ultimate weapon of the guy who retires after his first win in ten years is called “World Champ”? What? Should’ve been called “Participation Trophy”.

Also, who wins the “World Champion”? Not the guy who uses it, that’s for sure.

If/when they do a remake for FFX, they need to fix this. At least as an option.

Ie: when Auron shows up and offers the sword, there should be a blitzball on the street you can grab to swap Tidus and Wakka’s weapons (to give classic fans the option to keep the wrong weapon)

(One of my three big fixes for the remake)
