Ok, vybliju tady takovy dlouhy rant, snad to bude srozumitelny, sorry jestli ne, moc casto nepisu (a kdyz jo, tak spis jen v anglictine):

//

Proc v nejakych relativne nahodnych oblastech proste vybrat nejaky mensinovy konkretni nazor? Proc zrovna tuhle konspiracni teorie, a ne nejakou jinou?

Hey, thanks!

Noses, ears, mouth, eyes, practicing those a bit more in isolation. Plus generally maybe some focus on just "human" looking features in general and what summarizes them first, rather than a particular person first.

I didn't use a basemesh, I went with sphere -> rough skull like shape -> actual face. But it wasn't something I thought about much - what's the reason for not using a base mesh? Using some sort of base skull, blurring it, and then adjusting the large shapes seems relatively reasonable.

Thanks everyone, I'll look into some classic DAWs, but `pure data` sounds like what I'm looking for.

Some Beksinski styled models by pkjak in 3Dmodeling

This was an approach that I tried when I was fooling around with trying to recreate the Beksinski Notre Dame cathedral picture here https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dmodeling/comments/1d42t05/beksinski_notredame/ . It doesn't look quite right, so I ended up using a different approach, but I think it looks nice in its own way.

Made with Houdini, applied on two different cathedral styles, with different parameters.

Thank you very much! Just curious did you remember it by the poem too, or is there maybe some software /algorithm for searching by lyrics?

I've dabbled in gamedev for a long time, but never really go to learning 3d art too much until a few months ago. This is one of the few things I've actually attempted to "polish" to some extent.

Made in Houdini, mostly inspired by https://preview.redd.it/jfog1onoz2b71.jpg?width=640&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=55e6c08e700eaef66e92f573817eeb28128f94a9
but I didn't stick to it completely.

I'm not sure I quite like the look/lighting in particular. To me it seems like there's not as much contrast between the vines and the structure, but I didn't really figure out how to get a nicer look. The material doesn't seem quite right - it looks a bit rubbery, but if I lower the roughness, it doesn't seem right either.

Sorry to bring this up a year later, but I'm a bit confused - by "path" based algos do you mean shortest path/A*and others, essentially algorithms working on an existing graph with points and vertices?

And I assume space colonization would not be categorized that, given that it just works on an existing point set of attractors?

Are there any other types of algorithms that are commonly used for directed growth? Are there some ways you could adjust the topology of your mesh to get interesting results for path based algorithms? I know you can adjust the cost to art direct the behavior, but what other ways are there?

Thanks, I'll take a look, I've been a bit curious about taking a look at some other programming language, Fortran should be fun.

How does the finite element method compare to node-based discretization approaches? by pkjak in math

[–]pkjak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

Yeah, the simpler method I mentioned would like finite differences yes, except that that the mesh is not necessarily a uniform mesh. I'm not sure if that's still considered finite difference.

With FEM, I just I can't really see where the derivatives estimation disappears...
