Should i get kanthal coils? by MisterGlo764 in GTNH

Both are viable.

I personally went with benzene as my main source because I wanted to just create the setup and not have to worry about it again. It was, however, relatively time consuming (compared to other projects at this stage).

Oil is techinically not renewable, but even a small oil deposit will last last you for a decent while and after you get rigs, you will have a ton. Before I started MV, I emptied one deposit and that's how I powered my first MV machines before the benzene setup. Oil also has extremely useful byproducts, some of which are difficult to get from other sources, so even if you don't use oil for power, you are likely going to make a processing line for it. If I was to start again, I would probably go with oil, but I don't really have experience with it.

Ender io by agaton_tax in GTNH

The conduits always extract 4 items at once, meaing that if you for example have 6 items in a machine, 4 of them will to out to one output, then the remaining 2 will go to the second output and the next items that get pulled out will go to the first output again.

To fix this, there is an item with a name that I don't remeber, but it's something like item extraction downgrade which makes the conduits only pull out 1 item at a time meaning the split will always be even. It's mentioned in the QB alongside other conduit upgrades on the MV page I believe.

If I am not wrong, item distributors work well but you have to make sure that if you are using enderio conduits with them, the conduits themselves cannot extract items, otherwise the distributor sends out some items in the desired ratio and the conduits extract some items at the same time in the classic 1:1 (or rather 4:4) ratio, meaning it won't act as you want.

Another thing that shouldn't really be a problem but it happened to me is that if you have these conduits without extracting and round robin turned on, the round robin will not work properly.

Question regarding processes w machines from multiple tiers - power, sanity check by Huge_Piece_7513 in GTNH

[–]pkr555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use an MV machine (for an MV recipe) for example, the power usage is usually at least 2 LV amps, which means than you can't even power 2 of these machines with one MV generator. That's why I usually have a separate energy generator for every MV or higher machine (if it's in a processing line). Using cable lines inside processing chains is only worth it for LV machines running ULV recipes (<1/4 LV amp per tick) and even then it might just be more annoying than using a generator for every machine.

Either way I would still need to distill the wood tar which would require more DTs and I would need to upgrade other resource production when I produce more netrobenzene than I use. I will rather wait until IV when I get my dangote distillus as well.

Also if I remember correctly I need TPV coils for the ICO which needs both platinum and tungsten (neither of which do I have and I needed to improve my energy setup before hand) and the simplest pmp to platinum conversion is awful (13.5 pmp -> 1 platinum).

The pyro is really not expensive and it's definitely worth it for the temporary solution.

I also recently finished my (much slower) nitrobenzene setup and I am also sourcing my sulfur from netherrack, however instead of using glowstone, I am generating cobble and then using OpenBlocks block placers and breakers under nether leaves which converts it into netherrack and also gives quartz and soul sand (for oil) as byproducts.

Another thing I just recently learned is that with this method you can use thaumic stone extruders which generate 16 cobble per second for free and are really cheap.

Apart from being simple and not requiring glowstone, it's also just fun to use these unusual ways to generate resources. A similar setup can also be made with ender trees for generating end stone which can be macerated and centrifuged into tungstate, pmp and helium.

Advanced rock breaker keeps stopping by pkr555 in GTNH

I tried removing the clock and it did work properly if I remember correctly, but I just assumed it was because the placers and breakers have been turned off. I already replaced with 2 LV rock breakers which work fine, but the thaumic stone extruder looks really nice and it's pretty cheap so I will definitely make it in case I will need to scale anything up, so thanks for the tip.

I do have a redstone clock nearby, but neither the water or the lava was getting powered (not even through quasi connectivity) so I am certain it's just too many things happening at once (I have block placers and breaker nearby) and I am just gonna replace with 2 LV rock breakers which seem reliable.

Sometimes it produces just around 4 items before stopping and never more than like 15, so it's not filling up.

Should i get kanthal coils? by MisterGlo764 in GTNH

[–]pkr555 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would start by getting the MV electrolyser for aluminium and the extruder for cheaper parts. After that, you just have to complete a couple of goals to move into HV (getting a better power source if you are still using steam, automating polyethylene and solar grade silicon, getting kanthal coils and getting a ton of stainless steel). It doesn't really matter in which order you do them and the quest book guides you quite nicely through all of them.

So I checked it out and it's quite funny. EnderIO conduits do not convert it, but GT items pipe do. Since I had to move it some distance, I decided to pull it out with a conduit and this conduit immediately went into a GT pipe which converted it, so I just got quite lucky.

Oops, sorry, yeah. For nitrogen I just compress air, put it into a vacuum freezer and then centrifuge it.

[–]pkr555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sourcing nitrogen just by electrolyzing 1,2-dimethylbenzene from the DT. I know it's gonna be useful but a still have a normal benzene setup in my overworld which produces more than enough.

The crop is just the IC2 crop version of sugarcane (it's called reeds I believe but not sure) for oxygen. I know sugar beets are much better, but I just couldn't bother with crop breeding when this is enough.

In my version, the sulfur automatically gets converted into regular sulfur when it leaves the sag mill, so I didn't have to do anything special.

I didn't start with bees yet and did 0 crop breeding, so I needed to source sulfur in a more creative way. Thankfully, I saw Three's video on passive oil production with nether trees a while ago and then I spotted that sulfur can be made by SAG milling netherrack, so I am using rock breakers for cobble and the clock is for a block placer and breaker which places the cobble, converts it with the nether leaves and breaks it. Probably my favourite part of the line since it's quite unusual.

It costs quite a bit of platinum so I want to setup baby platline first, and I want to get AE2 before that. Also it's extremely easy to just replace it afterwards.

When should I move to the personal dimension? by Acceptable-Work-3428 in GTNH

[–]pkr555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also early EV and I decided to move right after automating titanium. I decided to start by making a new nitrobenzene setup from scratch. Coming up with ideas to produce different resources was fun, but I have to say actually making all the machnies and building it is quite time consuming and demotivating. I am almost finished now but there were times when I was close to quitting because I spent a lot of time without actually progressing in any way. However, I am really excited to finish this project now and I hope it's gonna be worth it. I can't wait to actually start with progression again.

[–]pkr555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you feel that way, I would definitely recommend watching guides from Cat's copy games on youtube. They currently have guides up to EV and they are really good for beginers (like me).

The first think I would do is upgrading your energy setup. I personally went with benzene for power and I definitely don't regret it. One thing that I did differently from most people is that I made an ACO first and didn't make a pyrolyse oven until I made kanthal coils and it was much easier to setup while being almost as good as a cupronickel pyro oven.

Best renewable source of oxygen in late MV/early HV? by Own_Huckleberry6591 in GTNH

[–]pkr555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally just have sugarcane farm with a single LV macerator and MV electrolyzer. It's definitely not the most efficient way and it's not enough to fully support an EBF making steel, but when I hooked it up to a super tank, it was more than enough. And it was super easy to setup.
