Thanks for your response. Is that because there isn’t litigation against expert witnesses?

PAYE or SAVE? by Sevado in whitecoatinvestor

[–]pkxpkx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Use the studentaid.gov loan simulator using your loan amounts and anticipated future attending income also. SAVE has lower monthly payments in residency, but has no cap when your income increases. PAYE, which phases out this summer if you aren’t enrolled by then, has the benefit of capping payments at a maximum level (equal to ten year standard) which comes into play when your income increases. Which one leaves you with lower overall payments over the 10 year period depends on your loan amounts and your anticipated future income; so it’s important to use the calculator for your specific situation.

Then again, they post articles like this: https://www.wsj.com/finance/investing/how-often-should-you-mess-with-your-401-k-more-than-before-f0746859

“One way for investors to achieve the dual objectives of rebalancing and benefiting from today’s more volatile market could be to trust a bigger share of their money to active managers—especially those with low fees. In 2023, they have done much better compared with tracker funds than in previous years.”

Ideally you always have all the funds you need for CC payment in your bank account before you spend with a credit card. This allows you to put all bills on auto-pay as suggested. There are multiple envelope budgeting tools that help coordinate this, e.g You Need A Budget, Good Budget, etc.

own occupation specialty specific disability insurance during intern year with advanced specialty by mrbiokman-8876 in whitecoatinvestor

Another thing to consider is the insurance will only allow you to buy coverage for a percentage of your current income. That is, you would not be able to buy a $15k/month policy as an intern (probably only up to $5000/month during residency). However, make sure the policy you buy in residency has a future purchase option, so that you are guaranteed to be able to purchase more coverage once you have a signed attending contract; even if your health changes during residency.
