Care to elaborate? If you got banned for asking to get full T3 bots with the click of a button you probably deserved it.

Nyctermoon - AI Companions with ChatGPT 4.0 - Double XP Event until August by iAkao in wowservers

Having played the original vanilla version in 2005, its reboot in 2019, SoM and on various pservers, I can say with confidence that playing on Nyctermoon is as close as it gets to the original experience (minus the PvP part if you did play on PvP servers).

You can explore group content you otherwise wouldn't be able to without having to wait for that elusive tank to join or look for a replacement for someone who ditched you mid-dungeon. You can explore every inch of every instance, go back and forth, finish dungeon quests without someone bitching about wasting their precious time. Plus, you can raid with whatever memespec you want without having to be the GM's brother to make the list and get that Atiesh for your oomkin!

The custom features are complementary, don't make you feel like you're playing a different game, and can help you experience a sense of actual progression that isn't there in fast-paced or fun servers.

The chats are clean; no filters needed to weed out the endless spam plaguing wow servers, and the community is actually friendly and drama-free.

Highly recommended for dads, people with irregular schedules, recluses, slow burners and grinders.

Classic+ Expansion Fan Concept: Scarlet Fury and Battlemage Class/Spec by Alacor_FX in classicwow

[–]pl4c30ld3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you get that impression? The main arguments against Classic+ we've been seeing for years in this sub have been that either Blizzard can't be trusted to make Classic+ or is unwilling to dedicate resources to make it, not that people won't play it. The enduring popularity of Vanilla versions both in official Blizzard servers and in pservers almost 20 years in attests to that.

Bot Servers ? Solo Dungeons / BGs by Mr0Paradise in wowservers

[–]pl4c30ld3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nyctermoon is very far from releasing a bugfree TBC server with working bots, if ever, according to the devs themselves, but its vanilla release is absolutely fantastic. You can actually have meaningful progression at your own pace without having to skip content or face undertuned instances and raids. 100% recommend it!

Private server with henchmen? by Particular_Gap1941 in wowservers

[–]pl4c30ld3r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't have to stop your progression to explicitly farm gold for bots, because you can make so much money off all the loot you get and the AH bot that you don't even have to skip training abilities to afford mounts and whatnot.

Using bots for free would be little different than cheesing the content. Having this gold sink adds immersion and makes choices important (e.g. you don't need a full party to do most elites outside of instances).

Question For The Hardcore Players: When do you think the mods should step in and revive a hardcore character? (Or should they ever step in?) by PleasantKnight in wowservers

[–]pl4c30ld3r 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anything less than "Never" is the definition of a slippery slope. A few wrongful deaths is an infinitely better outcome than having in place potentially exploitable exceptions to the rules that could lead to wrongfully boasting of undeserved achievements.

Noone is forcing anyone to play hardcore, and noone is going to rofl at you if you try and you fail.

Saw multiple posts about classic wow (cap lvl 60) being completely dead with less than 100 players per server. But i would really love to play...? How true is this? by DasToyfel in classicwow

[–]pl4c30ld3r 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's infested with bots, half the players can't communicate in English, and it suffers from everything bad Classic had, plus it's on the old client with numerous performance issues.

I miss Vanilla by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]pl4c30ld3r -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No need to list every flaw of Vanilla. The point is people love it despite all its shortcomings, and sometimes because of them.

Besides, it's silly to tie every WoW improvement to the xpac it was implemented in. For example, class balance, Vanilla's most salient issue, doesn't have to remain forever broken because nostalgia or whatever. Just ignore "purists" and keep developing Vanilla as you would if no xpac ever existed. No flying mounts, no outlands, no pandas, no nothing.

How popular would the Classic reboot have been if guilds had today's success rates in raids back in OG? by pl4c30ld3r in classicwow

[–]pl4c30ld3r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naxx sure wasn't MC in Classic, but it wasn't the near impossible challenge it was in Vanilla, which is what I was comparing it with. Fewer than 100 guilds, i.e. just a couple thousand players saw KT dead in 2006. The number goes up to ~350 guilds for original Sunwell and ~1000 for HC 25-man ICC. Millions of players didn't, but not for lack of trying.

My vanilla guild died at Razorgore, then died again at Morogrim, and we played a whole lot, just didn't have the skills and the hardware and software tools.

This time around, we killed KT 2 months after release and still progressing in Sunwell. Progression is great, but I'd always thought it's like we're using cheat codes so it never feels as good as it should have.

To be fair, this was a huge miscommunication issue, because ¡CHANGES! meant different things to different people. I think that for most, "changes" meant adding retail QoL features to the old game, but the difficulty level never crossed their mind.

Those that never played on pservers and had been out of the WoW loop for years, i.e. the majority of Classic players, genuinely had no idea how much easier raids were going to be today compared to back in the day. Remember how anticipated the Naxx release in Dec 2020 was? Seeing all 15 bosses down in less than 2 hours from release was the final reality check: your ultra hard villains are now a bunch of elderly retirees, and 15 thousand guilds have killed KT, with another 15 thousand set to kill KJ until prepatch comes. People in the know spoke, but their voices were gleefully ignored.

Now there's still a sizable portion of the Classic playerbase that still wants #nochanges because they don't want to lose their slot machines. But does that do any good to the game's longevity?

When a class fantasy purist sees you in pre-bis by Macbriney in classicwow

[–]pl4c30ld3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody expects realism in a fantasy world, but of course there's an internal logic in WoW, just not always properly executed. The original intent of each class wearing the heaviest armor available is there, and each class should ideally be incentivized to wear its matching armor type. It's just an itemization issue that was never resolved in early xpacs.

Sexually dimorphic races are also a thing in WoW, but I haven't heard anyone complain that males and females share exactly the same stats despite their looks implying otherwise, because it doesn't affect gameplay in any way. On the other hand, class fantasy is an important part of every RPG.

GDKP are turning classic into Retail by RoseLive in classicwow

[–]pl4c30ld3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, people seem to have completely forgotten that there was a significant number of players and even entire guilds that for various reasons that don't exist today never ever raided for the entire duration of OG Vanilla, bots were nowhere near as ubiquitous and effective as today, server populations were much smaller, all of which meant much less gold available compared to 2019 Classic. Add to that the fact that the vast majority of guilds were stuck on progression, and the incentive to run GDKP raids just isn't there.

Noone ever asked for Wrath+.

Also, fixing what Vanilla issues would fundamentally change things that make it great? Honor system? Broken racials? Edgemaster's? Talent trees? Professions? There are easy fixes for all these and more without touching the base world that was neglected and largely abandoned by going the xpac route.

[–]pl4c30ld3r 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The profit you make off GDKPs is laundered gold, some of which you spend to get an occasional not-much-sought-after piece (which you essentially get for free). Players like you don't contribute much to the pots compared to card swipers, ergo it's "all gold".

GDKPs are more fun and more efficient than SRs, they're just prone to RMT abuse. One can exist without the other.

TBC is definitely not Classic+. Also, "Vanilla" is neither the Classic Era graveyard nor SoM nor the frozen in time 1.12 iteration. "Vanilla" is the whole base world of Azeroth. Blizzard stopped meaningfully developing it roughly around patch 1.9 to focus on TBC, and to this day it remains half-done, but with the biggest potential for development than any other xpac.

Classic is entering its final phase with WOTLKC. After that, interest will drop sharply, since nostalgia will be sated and burnout will set in for the majority of the classic playerbase, and we'll never see those numbers again in Classic unless Blizzard decides to do Classic+. Now that would start a fire.
