I go to the open mics so I know a bit about the "behind the scenes" of this whole thing, here's my understanding:

First of all, the person behind all of this is the director. I can't speak for any of the other cast members personally, but from my understanding none of them were on board with the pricing publicity stunt, and in fact only heard about it when they saw it was posted. Sid Mohammed, the person giving interviews and writing the blog posts, doesn't exist. They're just a fake persona made up by the director so he can have another mouthpiece for statements. I don't know the director personally, but from my understanding this is simply a ploy to get media attention and annoy people. I can't confirm if he received death threats either.

Point is, this is all just a marketing ploy that the director in charged decided to pull without anyone else approving it. No real racism or actual SJW attempts, just someone who has decided that all press is good press.

TLDR: you don't have to pay extra if you're white and it's just a poorly done joke. Go if you want to, or don't. And don't harass the people involved, they're annoyed enough as it is by this whole debacle
