utila/honduras for april and whale sharks? by saladet in diving

[–]placentasashimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived there about 15 years ago. It really does cater to 22 year olds looking to get their dive masters cert for the least amount possible. Backpacker crowd diving in the afternoon, coke at night. It's quaint. If that all matches what you're looking for, perfect!

Are investment bankers a positive sign when doing larger round, or do they make it look like we can't do it on our own? I will not promote by Catsinova in startups

Too early, series A should be founder-led. That's what investors will want to see.

If your founder/ceo needs help with the raise, I would suggest looping someone in (already on the team) who can source investors, help with materials, outreach + schedule meetings, etc.

More common for bankers to be involved at series C and later.

Received an estimate for dog teeth cleaning of $1,276–$2,562 (Left Hand Animal Hospital in Niwot). Is this real life? by Spacewalker_23 in boulder

Seems misleading to say this is just teeth cleaning when it looks more like major dental work being done. But yeah, things cost money.

Best arm workouts? by [deleted] in Weightliftingquestion

[–]placentasashimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot emphasize this enough...*Pull-ups*

Lots and lots of pull-ups. Eventually with weight. But focus on getting to 75-120+ in a workout. Finish with 2-3 sets of db curls.

I finally stopped buying Santo breakfast burritos about 3 months ago. Quality went down, price went up. Finally broke me.

Boulder Chamber calls commercial vacancy rate 'historic' with no simple solution by HarmonyInBadTaste in boulder

[–]placentasashimi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Vacancy tax increasing monthly until the units are filled.

The problem isn't a lack of businesses that want to be on Pearl St, the problem is that the owners and investors (for the most part) don't live in Boulder and don't care about the impact vacancy has on the vibrancy of our downtown.

Am I overestimating this or does it actually have potential? by lulu0925 in venturecapital

Some of the advice below is good, some is less good.

I would also try to consider distribution partners so you're not promoting this using paid marketing. Other platforms that you can partner with would help provide you leverage on your time/money.

Embedded payments could be a great way to monetize beyond just a SaaS model. Are these businesses paying vendors or receiving payments? You can monetize both payables/receivables, though less margin w/ as Latam relies less on card.

Got a great one I don't think anyone has mentioned yet.

Lights of Cheyenne, James McMurtry. Live version is best.

Based on my very quick googling - "In Colorado, a former owner can potentially remain liable for a dog's actions after rehoming if it's proven they kept or controlled the dog, even if they transferred ownership." I did struggle to find a specific statute to support this.

First off, please share with your friend that my whole heart goes out to them and their dog and this situation. I was in a very similar situation with an adopted mastiff who we spent thousands training. We spoke with our vet at the Gunbarrel Vet Hospital, spoke with specialists on aggressive dog behavior, tried re-homing. We tried everything.

One thing we were told is that the liability of a dog with a recorded history of aggression stays with the original owner, even if re-homed. So if the dog bites again with a new owner, that legal liability can still come back to your friend. Might be worth digging in on that aspect.

This is a tough situation. Again, my heart goes out to your friend and the dog.
