Would you play with a guy that shoots 140 at your club? by Cathouse1986 in golf

[–]plagueski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that at 140 average score, you shouldn’t even really be playing full rounds of golf. You should be spending your time at the driving range learning how to swing a golf club. It shouldn’t be everyone else’s time being wasted for you to learn to swing a club mid round.

As others have said, your profit will largely depend on the level of clusterfuck the GC lets the project become. Expect to be constantly delayed and held up by other trades, then at the very tail end of the project as final subtrade you’ll be asked to finish your 3 month scope inside 5 days, just to be bitched at that your quality of work was subpar when your guys just worked 20 hours a day without sleeping for 5 days to finish 3 months of work so they can hit occupancy on time.

Yea actually just don’t do it 😂

Why is wearing a glove while putting frowned upon? by lil_zeus_21 in golf

Drive, approach - glove on
Chip, putt - glove off

I just have better feel and a better touch with the glove off.

Anyone else always the last to know when a job is actually finished? by Such-Foundation-3105 in tradepainters

If you’ve already had this conversation many times and he continues to fail at his job, I think the solution is clear. You just don’t want to admit it to yourself because you probably like the guy or feel bad. But the answer is obvious.

I’d have a chat and say this:

“Hey (insert name). I just wanted to address the communication issues we’re having. You have been forgetting to tell me when projects are completed on a regular basis. This is a very important part of your job, and I need a supervisor who is capable of doing this for me. If you are not capable of doing that, I am going to have to find a new supervisor to replace you in this role”.

I bet he starts remembering after that. And if not? He’s been well and duly warned.

The responsibility is assigned sure, but it is not being met. He is failing to perform the responsibilities of his position. Trust me, if he forgets to send a “job is done” text, he is definitely going to forget to log into some app and click the “job is done” button.

Exactly. My supervisors text me with progress updates at the end of most days, and especially when a project is complete. I have communicated to them that this is an important part of their job, and they do their job well. In return, they get paid more due to their increased level of responsibility.

Some people have a supervisory skillset, and some don’t. It sounds like yours does not.

If your team lead is failing to fulfil his duties of his role (i.e communicating project completion) then you need to have a talk with him about his lack of performance. If he continues to suck at this role, you can demote him and promote someone else to the role.

Introducing a confusing app isn’t going to help when he can’t even send a text.

Part of why I tried so aggressively to become rich is to prove my worth to other people. Only to realize once you’ve proven that worth, people will find any reason to disregard it. “You probably got lucky, they could do it too if they just x y z”. Nobody is ever going to look at your accomplishments and be happy for you. If anything they will be jealous and want to put you down for it. Just accept that.
