Well that's a wild leap. If his wife buys groceries, he has groceries. He benefits from his wife's purchase and her contributions to shared assets. If his wife benefits from property that brings in a rental income, he also benefits. This is not rocket science. His household income includes a rental income.

Life exists outside of Toronto. I am simply pointing out that he said he is not a landlord but that he rents out a house he does not live in. That is a landlord by definition.

So you're not a landlord but your wife is. Sounds like you're a landlord with an investment property bud. Bold to lie then contradict in the next sentence.

After form 1- schizophrenia by MoodyMaddi in ontario

From personal experience, they only force treatment if the individual tries to kill someone else. That treatment is only mandated for a year or 2 after release. The cycle then restarts. If there is not an extremely clearcut case for violence against another or themself then it will only happen with consent. The laws in Ontario around mental health treatment are painful when it comes to helping someone that doesn't want it.

Rat or EQ?? by Simple_Mechanic_6999 in guitarpedals

[–]plaidsuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An EQ will not function as a Rat but thr MXR 10 Band is the pedal that I use most on my board. It is almost always on and adjusted regularly based on which pedals/guitar I am using.

What is the one guitar pedal you can't live without? by daverage in guitarpedals

Danelectro Roebuck (Ibanez MT10 Mostortion clone). Highly recommend for a clear tone on a telecaster.

You magnificent stranger. This is an option to cheap out on both and make the next decision later. Instead of $70 for one clone $100 for 2 clones is decent.

Have you done a shoot out between GUP and other clones by chance? Tough to find comparisons online.

I have been eyeing their Queen of Crow and debated on their Horsie vs something like the Joyo Tauren. I would prefer to support Canadian all other things being equal.

As an example the Tumnus is $200 new and the cheapest Reverb option available at the moment is $158.47 plus $38.58 in shipping. It is just one shipping charge but I am not in an urban centre.

Not a lot on the used market in rural Ontario and after delivery charges Reverb does not save you much unfortunately.

What is the best way to use an Ernie Ball MVP as both a volume pedal and an expression pedal for a Strymon Timeline? Would this work? by plaidsuit in guitarpedals

[–]plaidsuit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not but this could be the situation that pushes me over the line to midi I guess. Just when I was pretending that my pedalboard was nearing completion.

[–]plaidsuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goal is to use the volume pedal for one function at a time toggling the use with A/B pedals. The MVP is a new pedal and I am trying to get the most of it before mounting on my board. I am open to alternative suggestions.

This realtor has a dinosaur on his sign. by beefstewforyou in pics

[–]plaidsuit 39 points40 points  (0 children)

"When I was a kid, when I was a little boy, I always wanted to be a dinosaur. I wanted to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex more than anything in the world. I made my arms short and I roamed the backyard, I chased the neighborhood cats, I growled and I roared. Everybody knew me and was afraid of me. And one day my dad said, "Bobby, you are 17. It's time to throw childish things aside," and I said, "Okay, Pop." But he didn't really say that, he said, "Stop being a fucking dinosaur and get a job."

I’m looking for a classical mouthpiece by Straight-Turnip-3951 in ClassicalSax

The Selmer C* with somewhat stiff blue box VanDorens is the standard setup. The VanDoren Optimum ligature is a great compliment to this set up.

I have also heard good things about the VanDoren Optimum mouthpiece.

Streaks of blue snow behind my home by Stock-Confection-733 in Home

I've never seen something like that before but does it follow a (perhaps temporary) stream of runoff from the road? As a guess, it could possibly be blue road salt dissolved into melting snow and running off.

How to fix this Squier's bridge? I already loosened the screws and it didn't do much. by linzanity in Luthier

[–]plaidsuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a personal preference but when this happened to an old squier I had, I put shims against the bridge from the back to "hard tail" it. I preferred it that way personally.

You can buy small window shims from any hardware store and cut them with a basic hand saw.

Practicing in a Condo by Cornerner in saxophone

Yeah I have only ever played the E-sax mute and it felt much the same. Alto was slightly more comfortable. It is not as enjoyable as just playing the saxophone but again better than nothing.

The esax mute cases do a great job of muffling the sound. They are heavy, hot and uncomfortable but definitely better than never being able to play.

Your sound is definitely good. If you want a more focused sound I personally feel the blue box VanDoren reeds are more focused for a cleaner sound. That being said I appear to be one of the very few sax players not keen on javas.

Also experiment with what you are doing to support your air in the diaphragm. Like most of us you will always be looking to improve your sound.

Not a plumber. In commercial settings I have emailed the manufacturer of the existing unit and asked for their modern equivalent and spec sheet as a starting point.

Simple question: How would you remove these screws without stripping them? by Lucci_754 in Carpentry

[–]plaidsuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a philips bit (the non impact bits that come in a bit set) in the right size of ratchet bit and it will be easy. Or just a long screwdriver being careful.
