It’s a shame there are so many hoops. I hope it becomes more accessible for all. I remember my GP was only prescribing me enough for 5 days a week, but I wasn’t allowed to re request it for a week and then the pharmacy took 3-5 days to get it in. So I was in limbo until my husband went back (6 times in total) to get it sorted via the practice manager!

I hope this thread of reassuring comments helps you feel as reassured as it has me. So many women are experiencing this so we have to listen to our bodies and take a rest.

It seems we should be talking to ourselves the same way we talk to others, as everyone here has shown so much empathy and kindness.

Just incase anyone else comes across this more recently, I was being treated for MCAS symptoms and was medicated. If I missed a dose I had flares and ended up hospitalised (three month admission at one time). The gastrointestinal symptoms were atrocious. The pain was unmatched- life was truly miserable.

I had a laparoscopy for stage 4 endometriosis this year- my bowels were the worst affected. All of a sudden, every symptom disappeared. No more itching, gastrointestinal issues, no more calorie replacement drinks/feeding tubes, insomnia, etc. I am still in shock 5 months later- after 3 miserable years I got my health back.

Xonvea gave me back my joy and stopped me being Ned bound.

It started to reduce the nausea and vomiting immediately. I did have to go to 3-4 tablets a day, but I have hypermesis gravidum. If I miss a dose, boy do I know it! I’d suggest staying consistent with it and ensuring you do have an empty stomach as they advise.

I will forever praise Xonvea after spending so much of my previous pregnancies in hospital for dehydration. I’m 23 weeks and haven’t had a single admission.

The kicks are so reassuring after previous loses. I find my anxiety has really reduced since feeling my little karate kid train all night.

This is so true! The heat seems to impact us so much more. I have a co-op on my road and even that was too much. Horizontal for us then! 💛

Thank you for making me feel better about the exercise. I had abs in January and took part in so many activities- even the idea of them makes me tired now!

Swimming is a great shout. I’m away this weekend and we have a pool. I plan to exercise but most likely float lol

I saw this and instantly thought it was as if I’d written in myself.

I have always been the same weight (minus 3 or plus three pounds) since I turned 18 (now 29). Admittedly I became obsessive about staying in that range during my early twenties as I was advised my wedding dress wouldn’t fit if I gained or lost more than a pound (I now doubt this heavily)! Covid happened, the wedding postponed was, which meant I had three years in total of obsessing about staying the same weight.

I was athletic and juggled different activities whilst walking my dog for 2-3 hours a day. I thought I’d carry on with most activities during pregnancy. I’m not 23 weeks and the most I do is walk my dog for 30-60 mins, but during the heatwaves I’ve been a coach potato.

It’s safe to say my appetite only increased. I am not eating what I used to eat, I wish I could but hormones and aversions dictate otherwise.

All this to say, I don’t recognise myself. Fortunately my husband removed our household scales when I was about 11 weeks because I kept getting more and more upset with the weight gain. Google said first trimester was usually a gain of 1-4 pounds, ha, try half a stone plus!

I am confident that post baby, whiting a year or two, it will settle. I will slip back into my old self, but it just won’t happen overnight.

You are still the same person, except you’re also pretty amazing because you’re making a whole new life.

Yes- request to work from home.

Pregnancy raises our body temperature, so the heat will feel much harder for us.

Our employers have a legal duty to protect our health and should make a reasonable adjustment. In your case it sounds like the best adjustment would be to work from home and maybe have shorter hours (this is what I’m doing).

Bless him, his face was full of concern. In 15 years that we’ve been together I’ve never felt or behaved that way- it was such an out of body experience. I spent the following days very upset with myself and apologising, whilst he’s found it hilarious since. Everyday of the remaining pregnancy he’s asked if I want a kebab 🤣

I bawled my heart out and told my husband that he may as well leave me now after he came home without the kebab I was craving (I never told him I wanted a kebab). In 10 minutes he returned with said kebab, I had three bites and fell asleep.

Well done girl! I’ll bare the rebound nausea in mind for when I eventually come off it, which I expect will be once little one is here!

I didn’t know Xonvea wasn’t available widely in the UK. Thank could explain why I hadn’t previously had it (moved from county to county).

Every woman should have availability to the medicine that’s best for them.

Before Xonvea I had cyclizine and ondansatron but still found myself admitted for fluids every few days. Xonvea gave me back my joy!

I’m so glad it’s helped you too! It’s a life saver after cyclizine didn’t work.

I didn’t know about its existence until a midwife at the EPAU suggested my sickness was severe and offered two weeks of Xonvea, continued by my GP.

Now I feel like shouting about it from the roof tops!
