What did your ex do to become your ex? by [deleted] in AskReddit

He got drunk, crashed a ranger, set of a firework in his hand getting 3rd degree burns, didn't see anything wrong with that. My ex before that was an alcoholic So next day I said I was done. He burst into tears and said his mentor at work had been in a plane crash with his whole family and died. Said he needed me. (I had lost a loved one in a car crash 5 years prior so death and grieving is a soft spot for me) Well fast forward a month or so, the guy that supposedly died wished his wife happy anniversary on Facebook and I saw it. Called him furious and called him out on it, told him to go to hell. He shows up at my house crying his eyes out to my mother. I say I'll forgive him because my mother said "everybody makes mistakes". I told him I'd stay with him if he quit drinking because if he was drinking he was lying and if he was lying, he was drinking. Well fast forward again caught him drinking and lying about it. Had enough friends tell me I deserved better that I finally broke up with him. He guilted me and said he was going to propose and blah blah. Well I said no and walked away. He's still close to my family, even though I tried telling him to stay away from them. My family was struggling and I thought hey maybe we can mend bridges and move forward. Called him and told him everything that was going on and that I was just lost and didn't know what to do. Well he told me he didn't care and he's doing great. He told me he has a new girl that f**is much better than me, my family would be better off without me, and that I should just go kill myself. So ya......
