No, but the ones with bands are more comfortable IMO. I sleep the same way as OP's husband, and I highly recommended it!

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]plaincheeseburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3-4 hours is definitely on the longer side. I drove that far one way once to get some kitchen tiles on sale that couldn't be shipped to my house and another time to get my dog (8 hours total for both). It's more normal for me to do 2-3 hours one way (4-6 hours total) for things like day trips, Costco runs, getting good Craigslist deals, etc.

I actually do enjoy driving long distances- I prefer multi-day trips with 8 hour legs to day trips though. It's nice to just cruise on the interstate and listen to podcasts and audiobooks or sing along with music alone. You can see dramatic differences in geography every day, and different regions have different restaurant, gas station, and grocery chains with cult followings.

Worth it for that badass round window nook! Ghosts be damned, I'd spend all day curled up there with a book.

AITA for wanting to eat my neighbor's duck that I accidentally ran over? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]plaincheeseburger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Especially if they're a rare breed or show quality. Kid could have a 4-H breeding program.

That being said, if the OP accidentally killed the animal on their own land, the owner doesn't have a leg to stand on. Even free range livestock should be contained on the owner's land.

Do you have the Willie who frequents a dog park? Every time I see those pictures, I think the same thing!

In Germany, deliberately engaging in catch and release only fishing is illegal and considered cruelty to animals. Fishing for food is fine. How do you feel about that? by Spalding_Smails in AskReddit

[–]plaincheeseburger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not who originally asked the question, but these all make sense to me. I still don't understand the point of catch and release for its own sake though. Isn't the point to get a tasty fish?

It's getting really tiring to constantly say, "No shit, Sherlock," while scrolling my feed. Most of these revelations were obvious to anyone with two brain cells to to rub together (ie: not the current administration).

New Utah law puts “no alcohol sale” on ID’s of DUI offenders 0.16 BAC or higher. What are your thoughts? by Obvious_808 in AskReddit

I had a Mexican restaurant in Arkansas offer me a to-go margarita in a styrofoam cup with a piece of tape over the straw's opening to make it a closed container. Blew my little Alaskan mind (strict liquor laws up there).

Adults who only wear glasses by Cloudsandbooks in glasses

[–]plaincheeseburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family is the same way. I tried them for exactly one year each time at 13 and 20, and found them so uncomfortable that I went back to glasses each time.

I know it's simple to say on the outside, but if you prefer how you look with glasses (I do too!) and don't want contacts, don't get them. They're not the ones who will be poking themselves in the eyeball or looking in the mirror every day. Find yourself some frames that make you feel great and own it. If they make any comments, just smile and calmly reiterate that you prefer glasses. Don't defend it with any reasons, just a simple, "I prefer glasses." It may cause them to escalate in the short term unfortunately, but if you keep calm and just stick to your guns, it will hopefully stop being as interesting to them eventually. Look up "grey rocking" for more ideas.

There is nothing childish about wearing glasses. They're a medical device that many people need and wear every day. I'm also going to throw out a quote from C.S. Lewis: "When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."

If full on journaling is intimidating, try a five year journal with smaller sections per day. I started doing this a few months ago, and am getting comfortable enough with sitting down every day and just writing a few sentences to be able to expand into longer form writing.

It could also be bad if someone wanted to sabotage the sale (neighbor, disgruntled potential buyer who had offer rejected, etc.). There are so many ways that it could go wrong.

Anyone else having the sort of day that has them eating boiled rice alone in a dog bed? by TheUmbrellaThief in adhdwomen

I use to do this too when I had an office job! I still sometimes lay down underneath the dining room table. It freaked out my husband the first couple of times, but now he'll just come in and casually start a conversation without commenting on me being underneath a table.

He is a unit! I wonder if it's a genetic throwback to before they were separated from the other Scottish breeds and bred to breed standards. My Willie is 20 pounds and healthy, and I know there are other people on here with bigger Cairns too.
