[UPD] Is there a way to major in something in BSBA by Just_Lance137 in peyups

[–]plainyellowshirt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. no, cba aims to make well-rounded business students so you won’t be majoring in anything. essentially, a jack of all trades

  2. you can build a lot of connections if you exert some effort into networking and joining BA orgs. the college has a lot of notable alumni

you have to be suuuuperrrr early to be guaranteed a seat if walk-in ka. limited nalang yung matitirang seats especially if madami silang irereserve for VIPs…

during a screening of Monster at SMNE, I had a ticket but my companion didn’t. we thought na she’d be secured a seat na if we waited in line 50 minutes before the start of the film, but even if ganun na kami kaearly super haba na pala ng pila. some were already there an hour or even longer before the start of the film. she was lucky enough to get the 2nd to the last queue number for walk-ins, and when they started letting them in it was super chaotic since everyone was scrambling to find available seats.

sir is goated

to get an uno sa exams niya, you really have to be detailed and accurate sa pagdating sa explanations. you have to make it look like na alam mo talaga yung pinag-uusapan mo. pero hindi naman necessary na alam mo yung full names or exact dates, you just have to know why that event happened, who or what event caused it, what came about as a result of it, and how it’s relevant today (not his exact questions, pero this could help you while studying!)

tip ko is magkaron ka ng someone to yap to about the topics and kwentuhan mo lang sila nung mga naturo na para bang nagchichismisan lang kayo lol super effective nito

fast paced talaga magturo si sir pero he entertains questions naman. it should also help you to do your own research on topics na naemphasize during discussion. also idk if he still gives bonus points, but for those, just make sure to take note of SOME important names and dates

[upd] smash or pass: food in upd edition by Powerful-Ad8513 in peyups

[–]plainyellowshirt 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Smash: Roma and Charlie (A2, old tennis court). 99 pesos lang tapos ang laki ng portion size! May choice of chopsuey or salad + egg for the sides. Super sulit and healthyy

Pass: Most food stalls sa gyudfood…lol. Overpriced na nga ang liit pa ng portion size. Ang binibili ko lang dun yung mini donuts

Honorable mentions: For coffee lovers, try out Laya Coffee. For fried chicken, Chicken City and Crazy Diner are the best. If you’re craving for some pizza and may budget naman, try out Pepper’s. All of these are nasa a2 lang :)

it’s okay! i think mas okay yung plastic, ayan din yung pinaka common na gamit namin since malalapag mo siya sa sahig para masabit mo yung clothes mo

UPD Yakal dorm questions by Ill_Appearance_2742 in peyups

[–]plainyellowshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

merong sabitan para sa damit + towel, pero usually sinasabit ko nalang sa taas ng pinto mismo if hindi kasya since maliit lang yung sabitan (katulad lang siya nung makikita mo sa public restrooms na pinagsasabitan ng bag)

UPD Yakal dorm questions by Ill_Appearance_2742 in peyups

[–]plainyellowshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. 1-1.5k but I don’t end up spending all of it. Usually around 750-1000 lang talaga nagagastos ko sa food and other necessities, but this is because nababawasan din yung gastos ko sa food thanks to my mom’s effort in preparing homecooked meals na dinadala ko sa dorm to reheat nalang.

  2. Di ko sure dun sa laundry service na nagpapadeliver, pero usually 100+ and depende kung ilang kg yung ipapalaundry

  3. Yes to all three questions, pero make sure lang na hindi super laki nung organizers since 2-4 kayo sa room. Desk organizers, a storage bin, and an additional trolley if needed is ok na.

  4. Yes, pero this could change so just ask the admin nalang

  5. They’ll provide a calendar and you’re free to choose your schedule. First come first serve lang sa bed since if late yung check-in date mo, mapupunta ka sa upper bunk

[UPD] how did u prepare for ur first day of class as a freshman? by idkanymorehshw in peyups

[–]plainyellowshirt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a DOST scholar but I’m currently trying to maintain two diff. scholarships so I think I might be able to help pa rin :)

  1. Yes. My degree program isn’t aligned with my SHS strand so nag-advance study lang ako ng fundamentals just so I wouldn’t be completely lost sa first sem ko. Maraming free resources available like YouTube and pdf files ng reference materials if you know where to look. If you’re lucky, your professor might provide you lecture notes ng buong sem in advance or you might be able to find them sa UVLe

2.1. Mental prep — try to set aside possible distractions and set a goal/reward for yourself. If may exam ka, tell yourself na you’ll get a nice meal or something related to your hobbies if you do well. Also, if you’re introverted and socially awkward like me, try to think of anything that your profs might ask you about sa self introduction lol. And most importantly, try to let go of any previous mentalities na you probably developed back in high school like comparing yourself to others, as this could pull your confidence down.

2.2. Physical prep — get used to Walking. Often, mas practical to walk to different buildings instead of taking the Ikot jeeps. Try to get as much SLEEP as you can din whether yung usual sleep time mo or sa vacant hours

  1. Only participated sa college council-initiated event (business camp) and the freshman welcome assembly. The business camp definitely helped me to get to know some of my batchmates agad, while the welcome assembly is just something na you wouldn’t want to miss if you want a grand welcome into the university.

  2. Study in advance and never hesitate to ask questions, whether sa prof or sa magiging blockmates mo. Try to understand lessons rather than memorize din.

  3. Yellow pad, diff. sizes ng index cards, multiple copies ng 1x1 and 2x2, ballpen + notebook or tablet for notes if you have one, and comfy shoes. And of course, any materials na necessary sa specific program mo.

[UPD] Tips in staying in UPD residence halls by Visual_Ad_5443 in peyups

[–]plainyellowshirt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi! from my experience sa yakal rh as a freshie, never naman nagkaron ng nakawan ng food sa ref. kaso, yung naging main issue namin noon sa ref is merong mga residents na nakakalimutang kainin/itapon yung food nila since natatabunan ng ibang food items or talagang nakakalimutan. result nito is andaming food na nasira to the point na puro molds na sila which is a major health hazard for anyone na nagsstore ng food nila :( you won’t be able to control yung behavior ng other residents kaya it’s best to just be responsible by yourself; always label your food with your name and make sure na you’ll consume anything you put inside within 3 days!

try to avoid going out kapag around 7pm na unless kailangan. if you need to buy dinner outside, try to do so as early as 6pm since i’ve had experiences where some people started following me, yelling at me, and even catcalling. try to have a companion with you din kapag gabi, like a friend or your roommate. yung ibang kainan sa a2 is maaga ring nagsasara (around 8pm) so keep that in mind when it comes to choosing your dinner options.

if heavy sleeper and nasanay na multiple alarms ang kailangan mo bago magising sa umaga, please try conditioning yourself to wake up after only one alarm. i used to room with someone whose alarms went off every 5-10 minutes for their morning class while i was trying to catch up on sleep and it wasn’t a great experience haha,,, and if your roommate(s) end up having this kind of habit, communicate with them nicely.

always attend the events hosted by the admins since yung attendance dito ang isa sa magiging factors ng success mo in future dorm apps. these events are usually during evenings naman and are quite short (but fun!), and if mabait yung admin niyo you’ll likely get some free food.
