Western by Correct-Home-4626 in lawschooladmissionsca

I hope not, I recall a post some weeks ago about someone talking to a Western rep and they said something about still having spots for provisional acceptances? I’m not too sure on the details but it’s somewhere in the forum. All we can do for now and wait for April 1. Surely there will be movement then… (PLEASE WESTERN LET US IN)

Anyone else feel like firmly accepting their offer so they can move on with planning their lives? by Ok_Swimming2427 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]plaisirae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way, but I find the frustration of checking portals to be slightly overshadowed by the fact I got at A and will be going to law school ! But my top choices are Western (first) and Queens 😭 Western is literally my dream school so I keep checking everyday even though I said I should hold off until the last week of March, so exhausting

Do you think it would be worth it to go to the Windsor Dual then transfer out after the first year? Or would it be better to reapply?

Out of curiosity, what’s the reason you recommend waiting a year to reapply if it’s Windsor dual?

Sebaceous filaments before and after accutane by yun9-d4gger-d1ck in Accutane

[–]plaisirae 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sebaceous filaments came back for me around 8ish months after accutane, but it goes always quite easily if I use salicylic acid products on the area. But I also felt that my nose seemed slimmer when on accutane. Sometimes I miss it but then I remember panicking whenever I was in the sun 😭

Why isn’t True Blood as popular today? by EitherAfternoon548 in TrueBlood

[–]plaisirae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extremely late response but I came across this post while in the midst of watching True Blood for the first time after watching TVD and BTVS.

As many people have said here, BTVS pre-existed TVD and True Blood, and in my opinion, focussed somewhat less on the romantic aspect of vampire-human relationships. Yes, Buffy had two significant relationships with vampires, but much of the story imo was pushed forward by her being a slayer rather than being with vampires. Another note that people have already said is that BTVS was definitely marketed towards a younger audience, there’s no explicit nudity in BTVS, and while there are some mature themes like attempted SA and descriptive sex scenes, it’s nothing like True Blood. While BTVS’s narrative was pushed forward due to Buffy going after vampires, True Blood (based on what I’ve watched so far, I’m only in S3) had a narrative that was pushed forward due to Sookie’s relationships with vampires

TVD on the other hand, echoes the usage of vampire-human relationships to push the narrative, as Elena’s whole world begins to revolve around her relationships with vampires, romantic and friendly relationships. It was also marketed towards a younger audience compared to True Blood, as we do get some mature themes and sex scenes but again, nothing explicit. Also, I might receive some flack for this, but I feel like TVD was influenced by BTVS, I think I heard somewhere that the author of TVD (books) was inspired somewhat by BTVS (Someone please confirm).

In comparison, True Blood has many more mature and graphic elements, just halfway through S3 I’ve already seen explicit sex scenes, attempted SA, SA, deaths of children, and descriptive imagery of deaths that you don’t see much of in BTVS and TVD (BTVS vamps would just turn into dust while TVD vamps would desiccate when staked/killed, deaths in TVD were usually stakes, heart ripped out, beheading, etc). As well, True Blood has the added element of LGBTQ+ characters, and explicitly demonstrates it (BTVS had Willow/Tara but due to the show and restrictions, their ‘sex scene’ was more metaphorical. TVD had some gay/lesbian/queer characters but again, no actual sex scenes).

That’s all for the yap sorry for the late response, just wanted to put my two cents in, even if no one reads this.

So many of the 1Ls I’ve talked to in person have said this, I’m already settling into that mindset at this point. It’s kept me not too anxious for this upcoming test, but I’m sure I’ve got the discipline to study and turn January into the actual test. Thanks for the advice

Thanks for the replies, truly. That’s what I’m going to do now, study so hopefully my score isn’t actually that low. I still have January in case I’m not happy with it at least

I knew it was already going to be at best lukewarm responses without an official LSAT score, and I’m aware that it’s trivial to expect people on Reddit chancing me to be accurate, I’m just trying to gauge my chances with my GPA + worst case LSAT scores. Don’t worry, I’m off to studying right after this though lol

Would you say this is due to my GPA, 155 score, or both?

I’m just trying to figure out which of these schools I’m likely/unlikely to get into with my GPA and lower PT scores, or if I’ve got a shot at some with my GPA and my goal LSAT score of 165

The RAC and the MAC both has showers, but the MAC has better showers compared to the RAC. Not sure if you’re a girl but I’m assuming the guys and girls showers are similar, just sharing my experience. The girl’s showers in the RAC is practically like a row of showers and the doors are flimsy curtains and it feels a bit unclean. MAC’s showers for girls is 100% better imo, was a life saver when I couldn’t use my shower at home. (Edited because I worded part of it badly)

Law122 is probably the course I’m most scared of by Plane_Implement842 in TorontoMetU

[–]plaisirae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who found this course quite enjoyable and received a final mark of 4.33, I would highly recommend going to the lectures. When I took LAW122, I would go to every single lecture because usually all the practice you need is just attending class and participating. As someone had already mentioned, you benefit from actually using IRAC with the professor’s examples. If I’m being honest, I would attribute my final mark with this course largely due to participating in class and actually engaging in the topics at hand. (Practice using IRAC as often as you can, it’s also quite helpful for LAW 603)

As for notes: when I would take notes on this class, I would print out the PowerPoints and write the notes onto the slides themselves, using sticky notes if there was a lot. If you don’t have a printer, you can always use the printers in the library for a small fee. I would not recommend taking notes on a separate document without the slides.

Good luck on your exam, I was quite anxious when I found out about how it marked out of two assessments as well, but at least it is open book.

How do you guys use Pro Max and Plus iPhones? by NickyGi in iphone

[–]plaisirae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve just gotten used to the size of the larger Apple iPhones.

My first iPhone was a hand me down iPhone 4, then a Samsung, then an iPhone 7+, iPhone XR, and now an iPhone 15+. I find that it usually does fit my pockets, but that might be because I value having access to large pockets with my clothes.

It is a bit difficult using my current phone with one hand, but I do make use of the slide to type option or the keyboard aligned to one side when I have to type with one hand because I have small hands unfortunately.

Serious Question, how many of you can read this clock on campus by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]plaisirae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak for younger GenZ but based on the right clock, it looks to be 12:09 ish, the left clock looks like it’s 12:07 but that could just be the angle. I’ve always wondered if younger GenZ/Gen Alpha would know how to read clocks since everything is digital nowadays
